Does anyone else struggle with anxiety / panic at night?

Does anyone else struggle with anxiety / panic at night?

Hello there, does anyone else here struggle with anxiety stopping them from sleeping at night time?

its hard to deal with when everyone else around you are asleep and your left by yourself to sit in the discomfort.

I used to take sleeping medicine for insomnia but i have been getting this breathing problem at night for past 3 weeks that turns into a bit of a panic attack so I’ve had to stop taking my sleeping medicine because of the sedation it really makes my body harder to gain control of my breathing.

Hi @LiveAgain

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for sharing 🙂

I often struggle with sleep too... For some reason, I've never had a TV in my room until recently. I've found watching easy to digest things, like cooking shows to be comforting before sleep.

It'll be interesting to see what strategies others use. It's often about trial an error, until you find something that sticks.

@LiveAgain totes. Podcasts, found a podcast called Tales of Britain and Ireland, written and narrated by Graeme Cooke. little chuckles 🤭 very relaxing.

YouTube Green, Brown noise. 474khz sound bowls.
Even with the antianxiety medication :pill: I take at night. I still wind down with some sort of audio aid.

Clutter makes me anxious.

Sheets and temperature. Synthetic materials make me very uncomfortable and hot 🥵

Colour, interior colour palettes that relax me.

Light, I dislike dark interiors. I can’t see and that’s annoying.

Fresh air is a big thing for me. I have got to have good air flow.

Clean 🧼 cannot live with dirty ceiling fans, windows or paint splatters.

And that’s my story.

Hello @LiveAgain and welcome to the forums.

I have anxiety over sleeping and wake up throughout the night having panic attacks. I'm still trying to find things that work to help me wind down enough to try and sleep. I try and run on routine and then once that's done I sit on my bed listen to music or watch a TV show and do some colouring in. It's very much a matter of trial and error, what works for one may not work for another. Some people have a shower, a warm drink, listen to podcasts, read a book, do some meditation etc. Are there things that you enjoy doing or things that help to calm you?

With your breathing problem have you thought about chatting to a GP about it? They may be able to suggest some ways that can help you relax before bedtime.

Always happy to chat if you'd like to, you are not alone in this and we are here to support you 😊.

Bday @LiveAgain

how are you today .

how did you sleep last night ?

I used to take copious amounts of a herbal tablet called valarium which is a herbal tablet from the herbal shop, about 4 a night to sleep. When I was in my late 20s then 30s.

then Doctors. I think that my youngest so is on antidepressants to deal with his sleeping issues.

its very important that you glean as much information for your own particular issues as you can ,I feel that people like @MissGremlin and all come from a place where there is more knowledge about this ?

I used to listen to this which put me to sleep. It was too deep for me when I first listened to it for about a year.
