Neverending struggles

Neverending struggles

Hi everyone,

I always enjoyed group therapy with peers in the past so am hopeful sharing on these forums will help me.

I was diagnosed as Bipolar in 2014 after hospitalisation for psychosis. My last hospitalisation was in 2022 after a bitter divorce. I have since remarried and struggle in a blended family with my son and my husband’s three children. Life just seems to keep levelling up with stress no matter how resilient I become. I love my husband but even though I have learnt to ask him for help when I need it he doesn’t always understand my problems. I know my mental health battle is ultimately my own, as it always has been, but I’m tired.

I want to share more soon but don’t have the energy right now. I’m not working at the moment and am deeply depressed. Not sure if menopause is a new factor in the mix this time.

Hope to find someone who will understand me

@CarryOnPorkChop

Thank you for sharing. I can relate to feeling the never ending struggle, it sort of feels like walking through mud at the moment for me. It’s been like that for a while actually.

I think it is easy to think about how difficult it is. I’ve reached out to Sane for support via call today, job recruitment agency and work assist telling them that I’m just burnout and confused and overwhelmed. It’s been a tough few weeks.

Anyways my point is that these strangers believed in me and it was really nice to feel that they all wanted to help me even though they didn’t really understand exactly what I went through. It made walking through this mud a little less lonely and a bit easier.

Keep reaching out to different people - professionals or people in your life. For me, I found out that there isn’t one person who will completely understand my struggles. So I’ve shared my struggles in small/big pieces with whoever could understand them.

Keep on carrying through and it’ll get easier!

Re: Neverending struggles

I bought a big life journal for myself to complete along with my stepdaughter. She's only 7 and is already struggling so much. It's hard to watch. Compared to her my childhood was amazing. Our divorces weren't easy on the kids. Both our exes made our lives miserable for years. Her Mum continues to do so 5 years on. We have her in therapy with all of the financial burden, and whilst we're happy to do so it's hard nonetheless. After my 2022 breakdown I knew I couldn't keep working in my profession of 20 years for much longer. I spent the last 3 years studying on top of work which has been no easy feat. I sold my apartment in order to finance this time off while I find a job now that I'm finally qualified. I'm so close to the next chapter but annoyed at how exhausted I am instead of being excited

Re: Neverending struggles

@CarryOnPorkChop sorry to hear you are struggling. If you are in the menopause stage of your life it may be having an impact. I am post menopausal and lately I am really struggling to be energised and motivated - instead I am depressed and just not feeling like myself anymore. I also feel a lot less resilient than I used to be. Everything seems to bother me now and the slightest bit of stress can send me on a bit of a spiral. Menopause can be a really hard time for some women and can impact a lot of things. I'm here to listen when you feel like sharing more.
