Dr refusing future sutures in ED
Wanting to know,
Is it legally ethical for an emergency doctor to refuse giving sutures to a patient who is a frequent flyer for sh but visibly is in need to suturing?
This happened to me a week ago with the doctor saying that I will only be cleaned, dressed and left to scar for future presentations to emergency department.
Reason being that it “encourages” behaviours which doesn’t make sense bc how would he know what encourages anything after meeting me only for a few seconds. Also further saying that no ED doctor in future will provide anything other than a dressing.
Is this legal at all to refuse proper care to sh patients due to being there too often?
I got full gaslit on how it was a misunderstanding and felt that my mental illness was used in the dr’s lies to other staff members wanting to know why he left me in the mess that I was in after I had a panicked episode explaining how he was unethical the state he physically left me in after requesting a different dr.
He told them a story completely different convincing other staff that I did not understand what he was saying. I didn’t misunderstand anything as I grilled him with the same questions in multiple ways and was responded to with the same answer that in future I will be left to scar due to not wanting to encourage this type of behaviour. He had no emotion and no bedside manner at all.
Anyway, not encouraging or promoting anything at all I only want to know if it against the law and has anyone had a health care worker refuse proper sh treatment?
