Something’s not right

Head is barely above water.

Head is barely above water.

I’m really struggling at the moment and sadly I know that there is nothing that can be done.
I have only a few weeks left to move and every place I have applied for I have been unsuccessful with. This is really getting to me and I have even stopped packing because I have no idea as to what’s next.
the stupid part is I can afford (500-600) as an average no worries but I am now have to look cheaper 400-500 for a unit which will end up costing me more that I can’t afford (go figure)

a 3broom with shed will fit myself , kids, cat and our stuff. A unit means I don’t have the kids (support goes up) I don’t have space (storage fees) cat either gets adopted out or I pay for boarding till I find a place. All that adds up to more than it would cost if I could just find a place.
I have a deadline to be out and I am started to get scared that I am going to end up homeless again (yes people have offered couches etc) but I have spent the past 35 years fighting to only move forward and now I know I am going backwards.
I am really struggling with this to the point it’s affecting my health.
And when I reach out to any support services all I get is I earn too much , too much for support and not enough to survive.
I know there is nothing anyone can do, I just need to vent to stop myself from breaking down but sadly I don’t have a friend’s group to do that with.
thank you for letting me have my whinge.

@Beleth I'm really sorry to hear that you are struggling so much. I can relate a bit to what you are going through. I got my lease renewal last month but they are putting my rent up and i can't afford it so come Thursday I'm going to be homeless. I've exhausted all avenues possible trying to get help or emergency accommodation but noone can help. I'm not in a position to apply for other properties as everything is well over what I can afford being only on a disability pension.

I really hope something comes through for you, it's such a stressful situation to be in. There really is such a housing crisis at the moment.

You are not alone and I hear you. Sending you lots of strength ❤️

@Beleth @I went through a long period of being among “the working poor “.

Wishing you the best. Perseverance and all that….hope you find a viable solution without too much compromise. Shared parenting is a child’s right.

sadly I know there are many injustices in our services system.

take care

Hey @Beleth wow, yeah that's so much to have to be dealing with! I am glad that you've been able to get some of it off your chest. Hope you're feeling a little lighter. And the forums are here for you along the way, too!

I come from @Appleblossom s era when there was room at refuges with children.

Can you see your local council member

FACEBOOK PAGE
* "Urgent Housing Help - [State/City] - Facing Eviction": i think there may be a Facebook page. dedicated to immediate support.
* Include links to state-specific housing authorities (e.g., Housing NSW, Queensland Housing, etc.).

Can you go to local church ? They may link you into emergency care ?

* "Legal Advice & Tenant Rights":
* Links to legal aid organizations specializing in tenancy law.

This is going to sound awful - as policies but if you are in a unit - your in. Then you may look for bigger ?

I live in public housing. It's tiny but it's safe, in a nice area. Can you see Department of Communities in your state for public housing ?

Re: Head is barely above water.

I have tried all the "services" avenues and even though I don't qualify for anything as I earn too much apparently , but the person who I spoke with was sympathetic and put me on a housing list , which I was like "bonus" at the time only to be told there is approximately a 5 year wait,

I have looked at everything possible with all local services like church groups and council member , but sadly I fall just outside their categories as I work full time, no disabilities, no domestic violence etc .

I know the kids will be fine staying at their mums full time , she does a better job raising them the I ever could, its just a kick in balls when you try your hardest to make sure you stay in your kids lives etc where as you get these dead beat dads who just don't see there kids and couldn't give a rats and the world is fine with it.

sorry its just getting to me.

Re: Head is barely above water.

yes it does help, the only people I really have to talk are my kids which makes it hard as they are only teens and although I am open and honest with them there are some things that I hold back on as they aren't therapists, I would rather them be worried about math homework than be worried about having a roof over their head , I know they will be fine as they have their mums place.
