How does it help?

How does it help?

I am not sure that reading others problems really helps ones mental health. Being in company talking about or doing other things is more positive. I have tried several avenues to help my mental health with moderate success. I think it is up to the individual to knuckle down to get back to normal.

Hello @Gibbs and welcome to the forums. I understand that reading others posts can be hard and distressing for some. Talking about things and doing other things is helpful. Everyone is different and what works for one may not work for another.

Here is a safe space for everyone to share their stories, get advice and support and to make connections with others 😊.

  • I am not saying this site has no benefit. I am saying it is up to the individual. I would surely like some other user to have feedback. Talking is also far better than posts.

Re: How does it help?

@Gibbs to first start up a conversation one must share what they want to talk about. So by sharing a post/story it's up to others to then comment and give feedback/advice.

If you just want to have a chat in general you are also more than welcome to. Just let us know what you need 😊

I have shared a post but would also like a chat in general. Having someone to talk to would be very much would be very helpful.

Re: How does it help?

hi @Gibbs and welcome
for me i only read posts when im in an ok headspace. for me helping others, also helps me. i dont really share my story but if someones asking for advice in an area that i have some experience in (ie caring roles for example) then i like to try and support them in accessing the support they need.
I also feel safer being anonymous and communicating via text. due to my social anxieties i often say the wrong thing, or my brain thinks much faster so everything comes out jumbled or i shut down this also includes talking to psychologists where as a place like here i can ask for advice but be able to stop and think before posting.
there are some limitations to the forums so i do have a good psychologist thankfully where i can work on myself

i am also happy to chat about anything. is there anything youd like to chat about?

@Gibbs I'm happy to chat in general.

How are you going, do you have any plans for the weekend?

Re: How does it help?

Probably another quiet weekend. Made myself go out for coffee and intend to cook some savoury mince which I haven't done for a while. Ingredients on the bench looking at me waiting to get motivated. After whi knows.

@Gibbs quiet weekends can be good. Hope you enjoyed your coffee. You can do this, sending you motivational vibes 😊. What's the weather like where you are? It's warm where I am today at 36⁰.

I'm just heading to the shops for a short visit.
