Stress

Stress

One of the things that can have an adverse effect on our mental and physical health is stress. Stress can lead to a variety of physical, emotional, and mental health problems. It can cause headaches, muscle tension, and digestive issues, weakening the immune system over time. Emotionally, stress may lead to anxiety, irritability, or depression, affecting relationships and daily interactions. Chronic stress can disrupt sleep patterns, leading to fatigue and difficulty concentrating. It may also contribute to unhealthy habits like overeating, smoking, or excessive alcohol consumption as coping mechanisms. Incorporating stress-relief activities like meditation, exercise, or hobbies is essential to maintain overall well-being and resilience.

Re: Stress

Yes @heera72 . Stress is a big one. I've got shingles at the moment, and that's from stress. Not stress from here, but in real life.

So yes. Stress can really affect us both physically and mentally.

Re: Stress

Oh no, @tyme . Sorry to hear. I've had shingles twice when I've been stressed, it's not much fun!

Hope you get better soon.

Stress produces cortisol and adrenaline, which can contribute to all kinds of health issues.

Hey @Spirit_Healer @heera72 ,

Absolutely. I think my body was stressed. That's what the doctor said. How long does it take for recovery from shingles? I'm sort of wanting to be free of it asap but the rash is increasing each day despite me being on antivirals

Re: Stress

Hello @tyme ,

For me the whole process (the rash) took about a week to subside.

How is it today?

When I had it the first time, I mistook my rash for severe ezcema and only went to my GP on day three. It was almost the cut-off time for when GPs are allowed to prescribe anti-virals on PBS. So I was very lucky to see him just in time.

Re: Stress

Really @Spirit_Healer re PBS meds?

I got anti-virals, but I don't know if it was on PBS or not. How do I know?

I'm still getting pain from mine and it's been nearly 2 weeks.

Re: Stress

Usually, if you have bought a non-PBS medication, the pharmacy label will say "non-PBS" and it will cost a lot more ($60 to 100), rather than the standard $30.60 for non-concession and around $6 for concession.

@tyme

If your shingles rash continues to get worse, not better, after a few days' treatment, then it would be a good idea to go back to your GP.

How are you faring today?

Re: Stress

Ah! That makes sense. Okay, I got mine on PBS because I paid around $20. @Spirit_Healer

Thanks for sharing. That's helpful to know.
