Anxiety

Hi all I’m new to this I have had anxiety for the past 30 odd years but have been able to manage it . over the last few weeks I have had my anxiety it seems worse then ever . I lost my husband 3 years ago and we were child hood sweethearts we were together for over 45 years so this has been hard to . He was my support person for my anxiety so I have lost a lot of confidence. I am currently seeking professional help but I would like to talk to people who know what I’m going through cheers sue

Re: Anxiety

Hi @adelew and welcome

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband.

I'm glad that you've found this space to reach out and connect with others who also have experiences of anxiety. It's a big step, but I hope that it's also a really positive one for you.

Re: Anxiety

Hi @adelewand welcome to the forums.

There will be a lot of people on here with anxiety (the most common MH issue in Australia). Of course there is a large variety of symptoms and underlying causes.

Just a tip - the forums are anonymous, so best not to use your name, or anything that identifies you. When you reply to someone put an @ and then their username so they know you’ve replied - the forums are vast.

I also have anxiety among other things like cPTSD. I also have had it for decades. I also have recently had an exacerbation. The loss I have had, pales in comparison to yours, because I just retired. So I have lost the sense of identity I got from my job, as well as the social interactions at work, the routine and the money. And also confidence.

I have always lived on my own (since adulthood) and I don’t have any close supports. So I have got through it with work, sometimes my GP and sometimes a psychologist.

So I think I can understand to some degree how you are feeling.

The forums are a friendly and supportive place and I would not be surprised if there were people with a story more similar to yours than mine.

I hope you can connect to people here

Re: Anxiety

Hi @adelew

Welcome to the Sane forums.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband. That is a long time to be together. I don't think you ever get over a loss like that. You may accept it, but it still hurts.

I know how you feel with your anxiety, I have it too. It can be crippling and soul crushing. It can bring a halt to your life and stop you from doing so much. That small voice inside can become so loud and so dominating.

It's so good that you are getting professional help. I can understand too about wanting to connect with others that can understand what we are going through. It's one of the main reasons I joined these forums too.

I hope you find those connections on here.

Note: If you want to tag someone just put a @ before their name.
