Anxiety and Mood

Anxiety and Mood

I was diagnosed with paranoid scizophrenia several years ago following a month being locked up in a psych ward.

I get an injection every 3 months which has helped a lot but I'm finding it difficult to cope with everyday anxiety and moods due to paranoid thoughts like someone is going to cause violence upon me.

I saw my gp last week and got a referral to go speak to the mental health clinic that looked after me years ago when I first got out of hospital.

The clinic didn't call me back and is closed on weekends.

I'm not in an emergency situation, I'm just sick of dealing with the constant noise and bullshit in my mind everyday (especially when out in public) and want some sort of anxiety relief and possibly I guess to get back on a different medication or something for Moods.

I'm just venting basically, I'll get it sorted. Just don't have anyone to talk to.

Hey @Wonder, thank you for sharing your experiences with the community!

It sounds like you are going through a tough time at the moment, and I can relate, as I share the same diagnosis. You are demonstrating your strength and resilience by reaching out to your peers here on the Forums.

It must be frustrating that the mental health clinic didn't call you back when you were referred to them. I am curious about what support you have in your network at the moment that you can use this weekend, such as LifeLine or Beyond Blue. It can be beneficial to talk with someone when we are experiencing anxiety.

I encourage you to continue to connect here with the communtiy who cna share their insights with you.

Take care

Re: Anxiety and Mood

Hi Riverseal,

Thanks for your reply. I have a large support network including a support worker twice a week for social interaction and development, a dietician, another support worker that helps more with cleaning and an occupational therapist along with a supportive family and a good gp.

I've battled for years with this shit now so it's not like it's escalated or anything it's just reached a point where I actually feel like talking rather than shutting myself away and hiding.

I'll be fine for the weekend - just finished a workout and have been for a couple of walks and had a few naps.

I think I'll just call the clinic Monday morning and get this sorted out. Going to discuss doing some CBT to try rationalise and conquer the intrusive stressful bullshit in my mind along with something for anxiety relief and something like an antipsychotic [edited by the moderator] for when things get to much and I just need to switch off.

On my injection nothing escalates or gets too much anymore but I still get stressed enough most days that I feel it's time for some extra help rather than just trying to deal with it in my mind.

Thank you
