Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

I'm okay but not all that well @Former-Member

I have been triggered and I am not planning to leave the forum but I am not going to be in here much - I am not concerned that there are a lot of people having a bad time - I can read that and not be unhappy about it - but a couple of things have hit hard and this is not a good time for me

So I will look at a couple of threads because I have a lot of people who care a lot - but I am pretty tender right now and will look in but for a few days at least I will be taking a break -

I'm not going away - there are rail-works happening on the the Gippsland Line and I don't like travelling in coaches at all - so I am leaving the for a few weeks

Thanks @Former-Member - and I really love that cup

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Owlunar, thanks for touching base before you disappear a while, take all the time you need. Sorry youve been triggered, and sad, it happens, especially when our resistance is down, I'm sure nobody intends to harm, but we do have to self care. Here i have to avoid a lot of discussions to stay afloat.

Did I read correct, did you cancel your holiday away? Disappointing. There are senior travel groups, I'm wondering if they might be worth exploring. I wanna go on a hol by the shore sometime and fall asleep listening to the waves.

Glad you like the cup, hope it wasn't too too confronting, just acknowledging your pain, you have helped me so much with mine (thank you). I think I understand some. Look after you, check in when u can💜💕

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Former-Member

I love the cup - I know my own pain and it's become familiar over the years and I can accept it

I don't think travelling in groups would work very well for me - I am a loner and it takes me a while to get my back working in the morning - I think I would find it hard to keep up with some of the "oldies"

I went away with my rellies a few years back - they had planned all sorts of things but I could not keep up with them

I am okay about that - I can go away when they have finished the rail works - it's amazing - they are happening all over the place - and they advertise what is happening and advise people to look up their trip ahead of time to avoid delays - and buses - oh they do take longer and for me - a long train fride is a great part of my holiday

I just feel vulnerable right now - sticking to safe places and playing lots of games

I seem to have a cold too - maybe I have for a few days - someone is coming to take me shopping so that's good - I haven't been up to eating much lately and it's time

Hi Niqua

Thanks for your post - I am into caring for myself in a big way - so I am pretty well sticking to this thread right now

Spring is not far away now - it's around the middle of winter now so it can only get better

I went up to Canberra last year - I remember how wonderful it was to be able to walk around the city after dark because there was so much lighting - I could just walk out of my hotel and walk around safely - there were so many other people there andd I loved the hotel and it is something wonderful to remember

It's just tough - I don't feel like doing very much - I feel as if I need a good dinner - I haven't felt like eating lately and still don't really

But thanks - I will be okay

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Owlunar, cheese on toast, bakedbeans, tinned soups ♨ These are things I eat when can't be bothered cooking. Woolies has BBQ chickens for $8 now, I break it up and freeze in meal sizes - can add to anything. Those Continental pastas are quick - chuck a bit of chicken and frozen vegies on the side, yum! Try to eat small meals more often, to do this i break a meal in half to finish with morning tea... Nuts and tinned fruit with fresh cream is easy, and yum too, especially peaches and cream. Have i made you hungry yet? lol. How about custard and banana. Theres so many easy options. Frozen fish and frozen chips make an easy meal. Where's out church casserole brigade when ya need them?. I remember onr church i was at years ago had a casserole roster. Some fozen meals are yum. Friday Feadt here tonight. But I do 'get it' when its hard to bother eating.

That's all you can do"

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Zoe7 and @Former-Member

I have some shredded lean beef to make into a stir-fry and some soup tomorrow - I had a lot of fruit for dinner and some date and almond treats - I think I might know I ate them tomorrow

I saw my doctor this afternoon - and I told him that my holiday had fallen through and about the anniversary and falling flat emotionally and physically. That helped me to feel better

One thing I have done is to think of a pre-summer holiday at Warrnambool - I found that the accomodation there was booked out - yes - people go there to watch the whales - I was there in winter for a week many years ago and there were no whales - but Warrnambool is also chilly - storms right up off the South Pole there

Maybe I can find a photo of the castle - I would like to stay there

In the meantime - this is mean taking it easy

I really enjoyed the bubble bath but I felt my age when I got out - I suddenly got a lot heavier

It's wonderful the way people think of each other when we are down - such great understanding
