Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Dec

1228 REPOST (re moderate) "oh sorry @Owlunar hope you're still there. Thanks for replying. I had to go to lou and while I was up (so hard to get up & down) I pack overnight bag in case they admit me to hospital (should I have to call an ambulance) which took forever - so slow. And had my first cuppa, and light breakfast to take medications & analgesia. Started getying dressed while i was up etc. Had to shuffle sideways to move earlier today but loosening up slightly, thank goodness. Yes Dec, when i see Dr next I'll push for a referral to both a rheumatologist an pain specialist. Maybe get that MRI. I don't know how you do this Dec, stronger than me 💜 @Kurra, are you around? Does your A.S. flareup, incopacitating you some days? How to you work?

Hi Shazzy, yes thank you, I know you empathise with backpain etc. Today, for me, this is a a crisis moment, a bad flareup or something, that's rendered me almost totally immobile.. Shuffled sideways to toot, sucks. However, after an hour its loosened up with persistence, walking a bit - so made a cuppa, egg, took my morning pills and analgesia (need to take with food). Getting up is hell, so here I sit again on the edge of the chair, if its impossible to move again with all these pain meds I will call an ambulance. My friend here is working today and did her visit yesterday, no family around. Hate this. Life is so fragile, really. Thanks for empathy Shaz & Dec, helps. 🌷🌿

Re: Life can be a Pain

My dog us acting strange - think he knows something not right. I have fed him (late). // The tablets spacing me out now. Won't try moving again for a while but decided to drive myself to hospital if bad again when I do get up, maybe ambo if too severe. Dont know if I'm suppose to somehow do better? Have low pain threshold or something? Impossible to self assess. // Mums birthday tomorrow, looks like a phone call will have to do. 😞 No going there like this, they have enough problems. @Owlunar, did I say something wrong? I can't control drs decisions you know and I hate asking for help or fighting for care. Maybe i just Betta stick to half days work from now on. Trouble is how do the drs knw ya that bad (centrelink requiremnt) if i stay in bwd for days and they dont actually see these flareups themselves? I was wondering // yesterday was the first time I took heavy otc analgesia at work - since pain is a warning signal and analgesia shuts that off - I'm wondering if that's why I overdid it? - because the alarm bells didn't go off so to speak? If so I would have have had to go home and rest it. I don't know. // Wish I could get an MRI, I'm told they're too expensive 😞 But as you say, specialist might have more say. // I hate that presumption that even new pain is most likely due to old diagnosis (chronic conditiobs)/and therefore not investigated. I haven't had lower back investigations for years, the focus has been upper spine this last year, now this. It seems to shift. Don't get it - sucks! // I know I'm a pain and change identity etc but please don't get angry with me, or quit on me - I don't have anybody to be as 'real' with as I am with the forums. I'm scared.

How are you managing yourself today?

OK, on my own again. Just drawing up a medication chart to not double up. Just got up without too much pain - walked around a bit. My friend returned my call - says I best call ambo if its like that again tomorrow - she's working. Weather closing in, looks like rain, maybe that's part of the problem too. Hopefully a temporary thing. Phew!

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Former-Member

I can't imagine what you did that was wrong but bad pain is bad pain and wow - it's telling you now that it needs attention

Don't try and drive with such severe pain - that is not a good idea at all - no way.

Years ago - many years ago - when I was still driving - there was a young man behind me who drove fast into the rear-end of my car cannoning me forward into the car in front - not my fault -

The young man had appendicitis - his mother rang me that evening - this was understandable but not a good idea for him to be driving - he had his appendix out that night

So I certainly hear you - I wonder why people take such a long time to get the medical treatment they need for pain - I didn't have a problem after I had all the tests I had - they could see the state my spine was in - not that I wish it on anyone

So - really - with so much pain you do need to get yourself to hospital and don't drive - that is not a good idea at all

Dec

Oh - I am okay myself - I had a Breast Screen yesterday - very uncomfortable for my bad spine - I will not be having another one - although I think they are important

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I hope it lifts for you soon. I use Fisiocrem when I have a pull in my lower back or hip, which seems to happen every year or so, with heat packs, and stay in bed for 2-3 days until it recedes.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @OwlunarDec. You're right, drivings not good, in pain or now the medication is making me groggy. Fortunately I can move a bit better now, once I'm on my feet (but its taken all day). Just had horrible waves of nausea and cold sweat, guessing it the tablets. I don't usually go this strong. Gonna have to have a sleep shortly. // Breast Scans (mammograms) are incomfe for backs - leaning into the compressor so to speak, being jammed in there like some kinda circus contortionist lol. Na, feel for you and glad you don't have to bother with that again. Surely there's easier ways I reckon. // gotta go, falling asleep. Thanks for today, haven't been up to fishing for support on the other threads. 🌷🌿

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Former-Member

Sorry I couldn't reply earlier. I've just got home from a 12 hr shift. No I don't get flare ups with AS. The intense pain is 24/7. I'm on prescription only analgesics which help a little.

Please do not drive when medication is making you feel spaced out or as @Owlunar said when your pain is significantly limiting your mobility. Apart from the possibility of injuring yourself or other people you could be charged with driving under the influence of drugs which do not need to be illegal substances.

I'm off to take some meds and take dog for a walk and bed soon after. Take care. 🎶

Saw Dr, got new prescription, started vomiting... now in A&E with reaction - inc nausea and vomiting, ?serotonin toxicity interaction with antidepressant - go figure. Definitely need specialist who knows what they're doing. Slow learner here Dec. Life's a pain!
