Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

@Owlunar . Don't you just feel great after getting your hair done.

Ah yes @utopia

It is a really fast way to feel better - my hair appointment was postponed because of the last lockdown in Victoria and in two weeks everything went haywire

It was wonderful to wake up this morning and not fight with my hair to get started

I hope you are okay - I know you are having a very rough time

Re: Life can be a Pain

I'm doing ok at the moment @Owlunar . My Psychologist and I have worked out that I had to hide my emotions from when I was a child, to try and protect myself from my dads anger. So we now know why. Now I start to learn how to feel emotions again in a safe and healthy way.

And I am doing an On-line Mindfulness Course that runs for 31 days. On day 5 today. Practicing meditation and the breath. Mindfulness and how the body feels, what emotions come up, etc. And then try to practice just sitting with that emotion, noticing how it makes my body feel, but ignoring the negative self talk that comes with it, and then noticing if my body starts to relax a little, or if the emotions feel a little less painful. Having to ride out the anxiety, so eventually I learn how to cope like a "normal" person does, or a person without trauma, does.

It is interesting but hard. And I am not fully feeling the emotions yet. Will be interesting to see how I manage when I do feel the full force of my emotions.

Anyway. Hope you stay okay during our 6th Victorian lockdown. Bet you are super glad you managed to get your hair done between lockdowns.

Love and hugs. ❤

Hi @utopia @Shaz51 @Anastasia

@Faith-and-Hope @Snowie @BlueBay @Historylover @Zoe7 @Emelia8

@Eve7

I hope people are the best they can be - I know people have been battling - I read a lot but couldn't respond at the time. I had an adventure - I do say "I didn't expect that to happen when I woke up this morning" - that is so true

I decided to wash one of my jumpers and the hot tap in the laundry broke - sending really hot water spurting at mains pressure at a 45 degree angle between me and the back door - and I did put a bucket over the source of the flood while I thought about what to do - I had to let the water pour out once it was cool enough to get drenched as I got outside to turn the tap off. By then my laundry, kitchen and the carpet in the lounge was soaked. Eek.

I had dropped some old towels down to block it but this was useless

Luckily the Ministry of Housing sent a plumber out straight away - and he said he would organise someone to sort out the mess. I had stuffed my bad shoulder up trying to push some of the water outside with a broom which was not the best idea of my life - it look all day to get someone to suck the water up with a machine so I nursed my shoulder and waited and read some of everyone's less fixable issues while I waited and watched a couple of movies

Of course I have been worn out today after so much pain. I am glad that is behind me. I wish some of you had been here just to watch the fun. I do see it as humerous - even when I was soaked trying to sort this out I was thinking I would laugh about a good story

But - yes - HistoryLover - I was sorry to read about the stress and battles you are having at work and just about everywhere you go. You do strike me as being pretty tough about it but so much of what seems like some kind of cliquey and bullying behaviour would be hard to take. I have worked with some unpleasant people at times - however - I don't really know what to say except it seems that therapist you had in your past set you up for this kind of alienization - for want of a better word - or ostracism

Okay - it's Monday again tomorrow - I hope everyone is at least okayish - I am sure I will feel better

Well - it could have been worse

Yikes @Owlunar Your day has been eventful and I’m really glad you were able to get it sorted.

My day was rather boring in comparison. I went for a long walk and struggled to make it back home lol

I hope the comingbweek is good for you.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Eve7

That was actually yesterday and it took me all day today recovering - I am feeling better this evening and eventually I had the shower I couldn't take yesterday - sore shoulder and no hot water left

I really appreciate my hot water service - my family didn't have one until I was 14 I think - I remember the old gas heater in the bathroom and boiling water to wash the dishes in the kitchen - and my mother had a copper - I guess that's the way it was then

But the really good part is how the Ministry of Housing reacted to get the tap fixed and then to sort out the excess water - there were puddles all over the place

I thought the Ministry wouldn't come because of the lock-down but they did - so good words where they are required - they did well

Gosh @Owlunar what an ordeal!!

You are amazing being able to see the "funny" side so soon. I'm so pleased the ministry came to your aid so quickly. I'm sorry you're in pain though still today. Sending you hugs and love 🤗❤️
