Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

It is great that you have had the MRI @Owlunar Hopefully you get the results quickly and can work on what you need to do to move forward - and hopefully ease the pain longer term.

hey @Owlunar
I hope your MRI will provide some answers for you, im also glad the technician was nice and kind as well

it was freezing here too, 12 degrees but icy winds. there was a few bits of snow falling a few hours from me and up over the mountains as well. think it may be quite a cold winter this year!

Im sorry you dont see yourself as a CG, although I disagree with you on that one. Its not all about new members, many existing members are equally as important to keep connected as the new ones. Although you may not welcome all that many new members, you do a great job of maintaining connections with many existing members, Like what @Former-Member said , i agree

you can be great CG just doing what you are doing my second mum @Owlunar

Hope you get your results soon and then they can wirk out best treatment.
Hope you sleep well tonight. Take care and stay warm xxx I second what @BlueBay said today xxoxo

thinking of you lots xx

Hi @Shaz51

I think I will keep on doing what I am doing - I feel okay with that and I don't have a responsibilty to appear every day and keep in touch with as many people as possible - I really just feel like working as long as I feel like working - which is okay by me. Sometimes I feel the need to step away - which I might not be able to do if I had a label

But thanks for having so much faith in me - that is an honour and I appreciate it

Yes - I will find out what happening with my shoulder this week - and since I had a couple of hours sleep when I thought I was watching the news I am as stiff as the proverbial board. Ouch - lots of sore and touchy places

I don't see my pain specialist until July - which is okay with me - but it does do injections of local anaesthetic into nerves and that could ease the pain in my shoulder - the other side is though - what damage could I be doing if I couldn't feel any pain, it's a long story actually -

Because of the lock-down I have to get into the back seat of taxis and the doors are smaller and I have a stiff knee and a stiff back and a awkward shoulder - I told the taxi driver I had to take my time because I'm getting old and he told me I was not - getting old - and I felt - okay - I am entitled to feel stiff at my age regardless of the injuries I have developed during my life

I understand your Mum Shaz - I know she's tired - and it is hard for you. I'm younger than your Mum but not by much - and during this cold weather I have stiffened up - eek - yes!

And tonight I am tired and think I should go to bed early - with the wheat packs - and read and read and read some more. I did get up early this morning

Hi @outlander

Those icy winds - they can sure wear out our enthusiam for hiking, swimming etc - but normally those circumpolar winds just blow Melbourne into a freezer and make our skies dramatic with heaps of white cloud shadowing lower cloud and I love the sky iike that - in fact - nearly everytime I go to Flight Centre the weather is like that because this is when I start planning to go north - and atm - I can't - but I will

Yes - it will be good to get a report into my shoulder - it is making life harder - I was asked to take my bra off for the MRI and I have stretchy bras in one piece with no clips etc so I didn't have to - I am sure the cold weather is making this worse -

I went to Canberra in July a few years ago - we had storms in Melbourne the day I flew out and they were really bad in Adelaide - my flight wasn't cancelled and I am used to turbulance so a bumpy flight into Canberra was okay - and I was delighted to see the architecture there - the old blending into the new - splendid

My hotel room had a balcony and in the morning I went out into brilliant sunshine and there was dark cloud overhead and the air seemed sparkle and I thought - that's snow!! - and held out my hand and it was - fantastic

And I walked around Canberra in the cold and after all - I am from Melbourne but this was a different cold - I enjoyed it - and it passed off that day and for the rest of my holiday - and it was July - I walked around with my sleeves rolled up because it was so warm

So we shall see - in Melbourne we say "If you don't like the weather just wait for a few minutes and it will be different"

That was a lovely picture you put up for me a couple of days back - thank you - I really love it

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Zoe7

I'm seeing my GP on Wednesday and then most likely I will know - and I am glad I have moved ahead on this

I made an appointment to see my psychologist on Wednesday and this will be good - actually I will be having a telephone conversation with her - but this will be the last time I have contact with this lady - see is moving on for her own reasons like others before her -

I can manage without therapy like that - it's good to have someone to talk this over with - it has happened so often in the last few years I am starting to wonder if psychologist are in high demand and wear out - this one is really good and I am sorry to lose her - but I did have her support when I changed pain specialists and that was the most important thing - but I will miss this person as I move forward with the shoulder issues

Managing things with one hand isn't easy but I remember I went home from hospital a few days after the last operation and cooked my own dinner - it was pretty rough but I managed -

Anyway - it will be good to find out what's wrong - maybe it's inflamation and I can take some different anti-inflamatories - I am allergic to most of them - and maybe it will be different but I shall see

Re: Life can be a Pain

your welcome, im glad you like the pic @Owlunar I always try to find nice ones for others in hopes it might give a smile on a rough day.

I hope the mri will provide some answers. living with pain esp when we aren't sure on the cause can be frustrating and anxiety provoking as well. hopefully nothing to serious though

im about 3 hours from Canberra but we don't get the snow just the frost and icy winds

Re: Life can be a Pain

It is tough when you lose a support @Owlunar and I tend to think similar - so many mental health professionals are overworked and there must be a huge burnout rate in their job. Some also move on to different roles which is probably good for them - keep variety in their work so they don't burnout - but that doesn't help you much I am glad you had her whilst you were going through all that pain stuff - I remember what a hard time you were having and how messed around you were being throughout it.

Good luck on Wednesdsay - I'll be interested to see how it all goes

Thanks @BlueBay

Keeping warm is important - I hope you can keep warm too - and also - get some more rest if possible

Is it possible to move A out of your room for one night at the weekend so you can get a sleep in - I know your living area is on an open-plan and your daughter is sleeping in one of your living areas but you do need the extra sleep when you can get it - and it seems she will be living with you for the immediate future - not just because of the lock-down but also because of the high cost of rental property

It can't be easy living in a small house with so many people - I remember growing up in such an environment - and on Saturday afternoon my brother and I (teenagers without own income then) would take off for a few hours and do what interested us. Often our mother would send our sister out with us and she is several years younger - now I see Mum wanted a Saturday afternoon to herself - which she rarely had because Dad worked shifts and her mother lived with us - it must have been really hard for her but actually my brother and I were not accommodating to her pushing our sister off onto us

Not easy - I hear you
