Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

I hope it is easier on you than you suspect it will be @Owlunar - you and your usual doctor know you very well and this new doctor should follow what you are familair with and need. Hope it all works out for you Dec. Hugs and hugs

Hi @Zoe7@Shaz51

It was okay with the different doctor - I explained my situation and he took me into the nurse for the usual injection and that was all - which has been so much easier than it has been before - having everything well documented is certainly helpful

The birds have not been around this afternoon - I can't tell them apart but there seems to be a flock of them - maybe six

They would be the perfect pets - something to watch for and care about but no responsibility involved - they take care of themselves

It has been a pretty good day for New Years Eve and I wish everyone the best for the New Year

Such great news about the doctor visit @Owlunar - so pleased for you that it was easy and you didn't have to go through everything again.

We are having a party on the New Year's Eve thread - come and join us.

Hi @Zoe7

I am here and I have had a look at the thread and all the preparations and sent a pic of myself dancing in a pair of pjs I would only wear for the forum party -

What a great idea to make it a pj party

I am looking forward to it

And yes - it was great that this new doctor just attended to my request today and asked very few questions - it helps to be composed and I was

So while my doctor is on holidays I will be seeing this man and another doctor I already know who works part time

And this year is running out fast - the time before midnight will run out fast

Hi @Zoe7@Shaz51@Appleblossom@outlander@BlueBay@utopia@Sophia1@TAB@Jacques

I normally see my Doctor on Fridays but while he is away I am seeing a different one on Mondays and another different one on Thursdays -

And I always have my appointments sorted ahead of time and it has become habitual - I just don't have to think about it - but change something?

Okay - it was hot and I had been outside pruning back more of the overgrowth of my vines and I had also been cooking and I decided I'd done enough and sat down in my chair with the A/C and the TV and went to sleep without meaning to

This is my BP medication and why I have not decided against getting my licence renewed - I fall asleep without knowing I am going too

But I did hear my phone ring and it was the clinic asking if I was coming in for my appointment - of course I was - I had to ring a taxi and one came straight away and in my gardening clothes I got to the clinic 10 minutes after the phone call

Yes - I should never rush - my blood pressure - always good now - was sky-high - I was hot and overcooked I think - but it all settled down as I rested in the recovery room

All good - both the doctors seeing me while my doctor is away having his much earned holiday know about my medication and I don't have top explain anything this time - and my BP settled - I should never hurry - I really was lucky with a taxi coming so quickly

But flustered - does it help getting flustered? No - I would have got there just as quickly

That's my story for yesterday - my excuse for forgetting - and I had written it down - I am getting old - that's my excuse now and it's working

Have the best day possible everyone - and yep - I think it's hot outside today

Dec

Aw - I needed thatI really like that - I could take a lot of that - I really don't need to get flustered to be soothed in such a way

It is great that the clinic rang and you could get a taxi in that short speace of time @Owlunar

It is also good to know that the doctors you are seeing know about your meds and you don't have to explain anything - that always helps. Glad your BP went down - rushing around can certainly elevate that.

I am slowly getting through things I planned to do today and it is a good feeling today. It is starting to get really hot here - Toby was outside but has come inside - Cat is still asleep under her tree 🐶😺

@Owlunar I am glad that it did work out. It is hard when one nods off, sometimes hard to predict when ... Never mind. You have a good excuse.

Just as well phone call, cab, and clinic worked out for you.

I am in a similar boat re blood pressure and being flustered, but we are also different. I definitely look cooked with slightest bit of rushing and being flustered is not something I allow myself to do any more, goes straight to my neck I have brought my BP down almost within limits and no longer take meds, but it goes sky high very easily. I also walk up most escalators and stairs and call that my cardio training, but there is not much else happening.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Appleblossom

I tend to get flustered - I always have - I think it happens less now but yes - sometimes it does ands my BP goes up

The causes for high BP vary - in my case anxiety and chronic pain - the pain can only be managed - and when it comes to anxiety I am really good at CBT but alas - I can maybe control what I think about but what goes on under the surface is harder -

Walking upstairs is getting harder - stiff and often aching knee - maybe I need that knee replacement - I am seeing the pain specialist in a couple of weeks and if he orders an MRI I don't have to pay for it but otoh - I don't really want a knee replacement either -

Dec

But yes - it worked out okay yesterday - I don't think I get to the doctors' clinic in 10 minutes under normal circumstances

Wow - and it was so quiet there yesterday - there are six doctors there but one isn't only three are on duty atm -

Re: Life can be a Pain

Yes @Zoe7

It all worked out well - and the doctors know about my medication - so many doctors are immediately suspicious about it - I guess they need to be but my whole history is consistent -

It's really getting hot here today - I have my domestic and shopping person turn up soon - and I was up early this morning so it seems as if it has already been a long day

And it's getting windy - bush fire weather - I know you have similar weather in Tassie too -

And how well everything went together yesterday too - luckily I had taken the cookies out of the oven before I sat down - and they are yummy cookies

Re: Life can be a Pain

All around the hills and mountain is orange and black smoke here @Owlunar I know you know the city well so you could imagine what that looks like. There is a major fire burning further up the valley - not sure how big it as at present but we are expecting large winds this afternoon so this doesn't look good - hope they can get it under control before the winds hit. If it is in the forestry are then it will be hard to control. Everything crossed here that everyone is okay.

I have to get the washing off the line soon - I only put it out this morning but it should dry pretty quickly in this heat. No air con on here yet but outside is certainly hot - supposed to reach the peak in the next hour and then slowly come down this afternoon and evening.
