Mental Health Leave

Mental Health Leave

The importance we give to taking leave for our physical health should also be given to mental health. A mental health leave is essential because it allows us to rest, recharge, and address our emotional well-being. Just like physical health, mental health needs care to prevent burnout, stress, and anxiety from worsening. A break from work or daily stressors can improve focus, productivity, and happiness. It also provides time to seek therapy, practice self-care, or reset mentally. Ignoring mental health can lead to serious issues like depression, reduced work performance, and strained relationships. Prioritizing mental well-being ensures a healthier, more balanced life.

Yes @heera72 ! At least this is recognised now in more and more workplaces, and doctor's don't ask a million questions so they can grant you 'wellbeing leave'....

Re: Mental Health Leave

I agree that mental health leave is just as important as physical health leave.

Unfortunately there is still stigma around taking leave for mental health. Doctors are generally compliant to give the leave to you but unfortunately a lot of employers don’t accept it. It can be quite frustrating.
