Feeling triggered after therapy

Feeling triggered after therapy

I saw my T a few weeks ago and I still feel so anxious. She was pushing me to talk about trauma; so I told her some stuff. I tried to leave out most of the details but I still left feeling messed up and questioning everything. I feel like somehow it opened Pandora’s box and I can’t close it. Keep remembering things I didn’t even talk about. The relaxation skills she gave me sometimes work but I keep having flashbacks in the middle of them lately. Don’t know what to do

You are absolutely not alone. We were only having this discussion tonight in another thread @redhxtsymmer

I shared that for me, feeling triggered after therapy was for 2 reasons:

1) it was to push me out of my comfort zone as part of the recovery work

2) I was pushed too far so it was detrimental to my recovery.

I found that therapy was hard work if I was to see any change. But then again, if it was too hard, it may do more harm than good.

Where do you feel you sit with this?

@tyme I agree completely. She pushed me a too hard and just left me out here on my own for a month to deal with it. There was talk about doing EMDR in my next session (maybe that’s why there was digging for the trauma dump), but I’ve heard it makes some people worse. I’m kinda feeling like I should give up on therapy and become a full time yogi or a monk so I can at least find peace somewhere

Hey @redhxtsymmer ,

I'm sorry you felt you were pushed too far.

I wonder if this is a convo worth having with them - if you go back?

And seriously, look, if being a full time yogi or monk works and that's what you want, why not?
