Struggling to make friends in rural australia

Struggling to make friends in rural australia

Hi, im new here and im gonna try asking for help here as im really struggling to find any other options that are working.

Im a person in their early twenties who just moved from a place an hour from sydney with heaps of people and social events (ig places to meet friends) to a place in rural mid coast nsw with the vast majority population being older/conservative people.(I had to move with my family because of my current financial situation) I have genuinely no friends here as i dont have a job and study tafe online so im feeling extremely isolated. This is especially hard as im a queer person with mental health issues and very much present that way so finding anyone like me is feeling less and less likely and making me feel more isolated and depressed. I even tried bumble friends but there wasnt anyone on their because were so rural and i also made a profile on a dating app stating I was only there for friends but i didnt get any hits whatsoever. I guess im just seeing if anyone else is in a similar situation and what they did or if anyone has any ideas about my situation? Thank you to anyone who reads this 🙂

Sorry to hear, that is a tricky one! I wonder if finding work or even volunteer work around the place would give you a chance to meet people and for people to see you giving things a go. I have a feeling people in rural towns aren't so tech savvy so maybe you have to look in person. There might be a town bulletin board? Those are my only ideas.

Hope all goes well. Sometimes meeting the right people is just good timing.
