Feeling lost

Feeling lost

this is so random and I don’t even know what I’m doing myself, I’m sorry.

I’m an avid reader slightly struggling with my will to keep going. I feel lost and often wish I were anywhere but here.

I don’t really know what I want from life or where to go because I never expected to make it this far.

No intention to cause harm to myself or anything like that I promise - I just don't know how to overcome this feeling. Any advice would be really appreciated.

@cook1esandcream Hi 👋🏼 I’m Glisten. Please to meet you.

Yes it is a crapfest. Are you feeling lost, because you are lost?

I hate the word networking, but you got to find something or someone that can give you an opportunity for change.

Just listening to people dibble on about their snot, when I’m jobless and homeless is an exercise in self control.

The whole thing is a huge effort and exhausting.

But I don’t know any other way of getting unlost.

Re: Feeling lost

@cook1esandcreamhi. I dont seem to have much purpose in any day. I seem to just float thru airy fairy becoz i have to to get to the end of another day. I have to MAKE a purpose. Connecting with ppl is the best thing, so i just go somewhere to be seen, or phone someone. A glimmer of change thru conversations is quite possible wheni do this. I hope this might work for you. Keep at it💪

Re: Feeling lost

Hi @cook1esandcream

That is a really tough feeling to be going through. I've experienced that as well with feeling hopeless in life due to trauma and depressive symptoms.

As a small starting point, are there any relationships or friends you can focus on? Social things can help our wellbeing, and I find it also takes me out of my head and have a bigger picture view of things.

I'm also someone who used to read a lot and now struggle to do so, because of the mental energy it takes. That makes complete sense and is to do with our brains and their limited capacity, it's not a flaw. Are there other less cognitive things like art, being in nature, or gentle exercise that you can try? Even if we don't 'feel like' doing it, simply starting it for 5 minutes can help and slowly build up more energy and pleasure again.

All the best and happy to chat further,

Re: Feeling lost

Hi @cook1esandcream

It takes a lot of courage to express feelings like this, and I want you to know that you’re not alone. I never knew what I wanted in life but I've just started learning to enjoy the small things. We are bombarded with news about exceptional people but the rest of us just sort of get forgotten.

Since you’re an avid reader, maybe reading can offer some comfort. Have you ever read something that made you feel seen, even just for a moment? I often look for books, and audio books, about characters who are like me, isolated and friendless. I also enjoy something as simple as colouring in.

It’s okay to take things one small step at a time. You deserve kindness, including from yourself. You don’t have to have everything figured out right now in your life. I'm in my early 60's and have only just started to understand that I am valid and have a right to be in this world even though others have tried to make me feel otherwise.

Sending you hugs.
