Solo Thriving

Solo Thriving

Many people consider loneliness an epidemic, but thriving alone can be beneficial in many ways. Thriving solo is essential because it builds self-reliance, confidence, and emotional strength. When we learn to enjoy our company, we become less dependent on others for happiness and validation. It allows us to discover our true passions, develop new skills, and grow at our own pace. Being comfortable alone also improves decision-making, as we learn to trust ourselves without external influence. Additionally, self-sufficiency makes relationships healthier since we connect with others out of choice rather than need. Ultimately, thriving solo leads to personal fulfillment and a deeper understanding of oneself.

Thank you for sharing @heera72 I agree and think that the times when I've been alone are some of the times when I've grown the most. I think it can be a delicate balance and sometimes I tend to isolate myself a little too much, but there can be such power in doing things for yourself by yourself

Re: Solo Thriving

Hi. Loved reading your post. As I've gotten older I've realised that I love spending time alone and there's nothing wrong with that. I've been reading a few books about being introverted and I've realised that I don't really like being in big groups and that only socialising occasionally with a few close people is enough and that's OK. For years I thought there was something wrong with me because society seems to promote popularity as something to strive for to be "normal". Some of the best times of my life have been times I've been alone.

Woohoo! I have a 'friend'! @skttrbrain I agree. I LOVE being alone. I run home so I can be alone because the emotional and cognitive load of being around people and socialising is just too much.

I used to also think I there was something wrong with me and that I wasn't 'normal'. But now? Meh? I don't care anymore. I love it.

I live on my own and I have for a long time. I have my young nibblings living next door to me so I see them everyday. But as soon as I have enough, I retreat home. And I love it.

So no, you are not 'not normal'. We are just a different pea in the pod 🙂

Love it.

Welcome to the forums and I look forward to seeing you around more 🙂

Re: Solo Thriving

Honestly I’m so there right now after escaping an amotionally abusive relationship I’ve been trying to understand and unpack what is my personal fear of being alone (will I be a crazy cat woman ) vs societal fears and archetypes of older single women. I’ve been listening to bell hooks all about love on Spotify it’s great ..
