hello @peter_here @Appleblossom
welcome to this site where all users are carers under the umbrella of Carers Forum and people who have a mental disorder under the umbrella of Lived Experience.
As appleblossom mentioned you will find reference under many of the different categories and also within the different threads posted by contributors here.
When I first came on here I was very unwell, my mind a chaotic mess and I was surviving on auto-pilot.
I hate computers, use them only when working or as needed privately. I have a shocking sense of direction also in the real world. So for my trying to find my way around this site as well as comprehend how to use it was similar to stepping into a quagmire.
Eventually I worked out that under the title Carers Forum before you click on any of the categories below; there is a coloured box marked "new discussion" click on there and follow the instructions. Try to think of a title that can condense the overview of your article.
When you are ready travel through the different categories, read some of the threads. Then visit the other side. I call them both "the far side" even though they are both equally important. If you want to respond to someone and their message is not too long, you can click on quote which will then quote the message you are responding to. I found this ages after feeling distressed that my responses made no sense as often they did not follow on. One more hint. If you type @ when responding a drop box opens up with the user names who have written or responded to that particular message. By typing @ and the user name those people receive an email advising them that there has been a response to that particular message. That is a great way of keeping in contact with people who are following particular discussions.
Sorry about the length. I am known for writing story books. I just know how bewildering it was for me when I started.
I will be very interested to follow your post and responses. I have an adult son, recently diagnosed with schizophrenia, who does not accept his illness, he is now on no medication and has left the state. He has created a shell around himself making it impossible to contact him. He occasionally has contacted us when in need of money. Last time over 3 weeks ago.
It is wonderful that you are still asking questions about his medical diagnosis. Keep asking. Keep on researching. Your loved one is still there, perhaps blurred and unrecognisable at times by his symptoms.
He or she still has feelings and emotions.
stay safe
