Pain

Pain

It hurts. It hurts so much. No really understands how much. I have a high tolerance but it still hurts so much.

I always wonder what it would be like if that amputated like they said they might. Would it still hurt this much.

I usually can deal with a lot. I'm so worn out lately that it's hard to distract myself constantly so I'm not focussed on pain.

I'm tired. I went to invasion day protest today, a lot of people have it worse than me, living in horrible conditions, fighting for survival and recognition. I'm a privileged white fella, why should I complain, I have access to meds and healthcare.

It hurts tthough. The past hurts, my body hurts. Life is just pain, and I am tired.

Re: Pain

Hey@The-red-centaur

There's always someone that has it worse off, so don't let that diminish or invalidate you own fight at all. We each have our own struggles and they're just as valid as anyone else's. This is why we who are fighting do what we can to help others... whether they would be deemed to be better off or worse off than ourselves. When we're struggling those comparisons don't matter, we're just trying to make it though the day. I found it only makes it hard if we start to compare. Either we find others who we see as better off and it makes our struggle feel even tougher and more unfair.... or we find someone who we see as worse off and we feel we have to not complain and we struggle more.

So keep doing what you have to do to get through each day and keep reaching out as we're all here to help each other do the same. Life can be so painful and so difficult, but it is also so short. I know as I approach this reality, i'm constantly reminded just how precious it is... even with the pain, the sadness, the exhaustion, the relentless nature of it... it's still precious and we do everything we can to hang on to it.

Keep fighting, we're here with you. Fighting for ourselves and for each other. If only just to make it a little bit less tiring.

Re: Pain

Hey @The-red-centaur ,

As a proud First Nations Australian, I want to commend you on your efforts to attending an Invasion Day protest. This is something that I personally have never had the guts to do, mainly because I had previously been a victim of severe bullying in high school - which was partially due to me being Indigenous. So well done to you!

We, at the SANE Forums are here to go through your pain with you, if you felt comfortable delving deeper into it.

Warm Regards,

Re: Pain

@JPEG1998 @MJG017 thank you for the kind words and empathy.

@JPEG1998 I'm sorry you experienced that, it's a sad and repeated story. You are valid, your voice is valid. I wish there i was more I could do to support indigenous rights, I show up and know it was and always will be aboriginal land.

Re: Pain

My pain is hard to explain.

I had an accident a bit over 5 years ago, I nearly lost one even both of my legs. Yes, the surgeons save my legs, but the price I pain is deformities and sever pain. I walk, but at what cost.

The psychological stuff; trauma, anniversaries, reminders of what could have been/never will be. It scared me like the sharps that broke my skin.

So much things I have been through, so much pain, what for. I'm tired of it.

I'm sorry about everything youve had to deal with the past 5 years. While i can't soeak to dealinf with constant pain, I can attest to the mental stress, particularly constant reminders and what will never be. Mine started about 2.5 years ago and i found out at the beginning of last year that I have almost no chance of making it to my 60s now. It weights heavily on me, and even the need for constant distractions is exhausting in itself. All i can say is that the less you have, the more life is the only thing you have. And the most precious thing. It is the one thought the keeps me not only going but thankful to still be here fighting.

But like I said, i dont have to deal with physical pain at the moment, so I can only imagine how much harder it must make getting through the day.

Re: Pain

@Former-Member @MJG017 thank you.

I'm so tired today. I wish my gp would listen to much the pain and fatigue affect me. I can't do much, I can't live my life.

I have ndis support, disability pension etc. I have to have people with me all the time. I've been unable to work my whole life. I can barely afford to do anything, even if i really wanted to.

Being in chronic pain, having multiple disabilities, mental illnesses, autism. It's hard. I'm too tired to fight for myself.

My gp has been trying to reduce my meds because I'm dependent on strong pain medication, the reduction sent me into psychosis and a suicide attempt, and following that higher pain level and fatigue.

I feel than human.

@The-red-centaur I'm so sorry things are so hard right now. When you don't have that fight in you that's when we will sit here and fight with you.

I'm sorry your gp isn't listening, is it worth looking at seeing a different one. I know that's not always an option but is it worth a shot maybe?

I feel for you with everything you have been through and have to live with everyday. I know you are struggling but we are here for you.

Sending you lots of love and strength ❤️

Re: Pain

@The-red-centaur

I don't have to deal with anywhere near as much as you are, and even I feel exhausted most of the time. Over the past couple of years I've also felt that feeling of being too tired to fight for myself as well, so I can't even imagine how much harder it must be for you. I know it's adding another fight, but is it possible to get a 2nd opinion with the pain medication? Could the NDIS provide you with support to get this done, or even to go to the GP appointment with you?

Re: Pain

@MJG017 @Former-Member i don't want yo have to start again with another professional, I've been seeing my gp for 2 years or so. I just want a break from trying and fighting. I'm glad today is a public holiday. I've been in bed most of the day.
