Understanding life

Understanding life

I've been trying my best to keep positive, do the work, change how I think, do more, be active, be optimistic. But how can I shake off the sadness that comes after everything I do? It's exhausting. I keep trying my best but at the end of the day iam just sad. When will life turn around and be positive, just this once, when will it be ok?

I look at life thinking if it doesn't become better, then seriously why bother?

I'm really not understanding life at the moment.

Re: Understanding life

Hey, just wanted to say your not alone feeling these feelings. What I've done for myself, is to question myself when these feelings arise. Overall my current mood is better than its been in a long time, however when the feelings of sadness come back and I think what's the point. I remind myself it has to be better than how I felt before. I suppose this requires you to have some level of hope. And questions like what do I have to lose be trying. Stay strong, the future is filled with possibilities, no matter what that sadness says @Fun

Hey @PengTing @Fun ,

Good to see you both here tonight.

@Fun - I get what you are saying. What i've noticed is that life is complicated. It's got it's own mind. It does what it wants. Just when we think things are okay, we get this ball-in-the-face feeling and feel knocked down, defeated and deflated.

Then the more we try to rise up and get up, the more we feel we are in sinking sands.

So yeah, I don't have an answer to life for you, but I can say things do change.

We're here if you need a chat or some company.

Thank you both!

I guess what frustrates me the most is that I have to fight every single hour of the day to become better, over and over again and it gets tiring. Is this how everyone faces life? Is it that hard and complicated to deal with?

Why do I have to fight everything all the time? It's like I'm barely making it everytime and everytime I fall, I have to start from the bottom. Is life always going to be like this?

Hey @Fun ,

That's no fun having to 'fight' every moment. It's exhausting!

For me, I did a lot of work with my psych to learn to sit with the unpleasantness of the feeling. Sat with it until it past. That meant I no longer had to 'fight' it because it was a losing battle and I was close to raising the white flag in defeat.

Have you heard of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy? I found the skills in this extremely useful. Made so much sense and seems to work against traditional methods.

I feel abit better now but only because I used SH. I still feel that it's a good resort to stop how bad im feeling. I know it's wrong now but I still need it. Life is really tough, it's just a constant battle.
