Moving through the issues..

Moving through the issues..

I know that I do have my issues, and some have been around longer than others. Unfortunately, for me the biggest issue hasn't always been fully addressed, and it has created a monster.

That 'other person' isn't as kind caring and considerate as I was raised to be. That person is manipulative and can be rather mean and nasty. I certainly don't like that person (and I honestly don't know when he's about because he is sneaky and hides in the shadows).

This side of me is certainly a 'snake in the grass' and his character and demeanor are similar to mine apart from the fact that he is far more selfish and self-centered that I have ever been. I am thinking this side of me is a trauma response because he really only seems to surface when things are going badly.

He appeared about 18 months ago when I had some issues with a medication, and I noticed that he disappeared after that medication was removed from my physical being. Recently the loss of my mother was a massive mental strain which again saw him come to the surface. I did some things that I am not proud of, and I hurt a good friend because of his selfishness and the way his thinking is.

I really want to exorcise this guy from my being because he is just a really bad person in my own opinion. He is actually everything I hate in people (and I become that person sometimes, so I end up hating myself because of it). I would rather be the kind and caring person all my friends know and care about.

@tyme I have also met some very toxic people before. Unfortunately, recently I found that there was a toxic side to me, and I am now working to remedy that. I know that it is a work in progress, and it will take time.

I am thankful to a good friend who has helped me understand that there is this 'demon' that needs to be fixed before it becomes a problem for everyone more so myself. They are helping me with motivation and guidance where they can. I know that my bad side upset their mental health greatly and as a result I feel that I need to remove this bad part all together so it can't hurt anyone.

Re: Moving through the issues..

@tyme i think it's very much about finding a balance between the 2, at least i feel it is in my case. Sometimes I've needed that side of me to step in and not allow to vulnerable side of me to just be walked all over. I'm one who is always willing to help others even when it comes at a cost to me and that's something I've had to learn to change so that I'm not just used. So for me it really is about balance. I have a mean streak but it's mostly towards myself not others.

Totally @Former-Member @Arbie_wun .

@Arbie_wun , it's so lovely to hear you have support to help you work through some of the challenges you are experiencing at the moment. It sounds like you have a clear view of what you WANT to be as opposed to what appears to be sometimes. I can see how much you care for those around you.

@Former-Member , I'm thinking that our 'demons' can all look very different. If the demon is bigger than us, then something needs to be done. But if the demon is there, to teach us something, I'm open to embrace it. I feel that knowing my faults can help me be a more compassionate person.

Re: Moving through the issues..

@tyme yes definitely.

I think for you @Arbie_wun that demon is too much to sit and work with and it needs to be addressed, so I'm glad that you are getting support for that. That part of you that's caring and supportive of others definitely deserves to shine through 🙂.

For me mine is just something I've partly learnt to live with although it's still very much a bigger part of me that impacts my day to day life, but going through dark times it's to be expected.

Re: Moving through the issues..

@Former-Member I honestly think that side of me needs to be gone. I don't like it and I don't think that I could work with it. I know the damage and pain it has caused and I for one believe it's not good even co-existing with that.

Re: Moving through the issues..

@Arbie_wun that's completely fair. If it's a side of you that you don't like then you have every right to get rid of it.
