Welcome and getting started

Elderly abuse

Elderly abuse

I was evicted from a motel I helped my son and fiance buy. I moved to a small country town after promises of I would have family to care for me. I fell last year and had serious coomplications after an operation so I was very frail when I arrived at the motel. 9 months of shocking mental abuse, one day my son had a rage in front of a carer , he was evicting me. Police were called by care worker, I was on the street with just the clothes on my back.

Has anyone else suffered something like this?

Hey @Trixie2, thank you for sharing your experiences with the community!

Sounds like you have been through a tough time with your son and the motel. You are demonstrating your resilience and strength in reaching out to your peers. The Forums are a great place to share experiences with other Members so please continue to post on the Forums.

Elder abuse is against the law, and there are services to support you if you feel it would be beneficial to get some support. https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/report-elder-abuse. Also, you could contact 1800 RESPECT to get some support with domestic and family violence.

Thanks again for sharing your experiences with the community!

Take care

Hey @Trixie2 ,

Elder Abuse is a real thing and taken seriously. I'm sorry to hear what has happened. Do you have documentation to prove you supported them to get the home?

I'd really encourage you to seek professional advice from https://www.health.gov.au/contacts/elder-abuse-phone-line
