My name is Jessie and I am new here

My name is Jessie and I am new here

Content/trigger warning
My sister age 14 came to me saying she hears voices in her head telling her to hurt herself and others saying things like ,her mother doesn’t love her and someone is out there looking for her she sees dark figures and is often paranoid . She has frequent mood swings in a day she is impulsive and can’t maintain relationships the voice in her head (Ryan ) tells her to do things like ruin her friends life and use her friends. She sometimes has a superiority or god complex and she often mentions competing with God . She also gets depressed out of nowhere and the voice puts her down saying If she talks she’d end up in a psyche ward . She said it happened some times but she’d get hyper sexual out of nowhere and no it’s not her hormones she claims . She also claims certain things trigger her and sometimes feels compelled to act a certain way like a perfectionist or like someone with autism. That’s all I can say please help me help her i don’t know what to do but first I need to know what’s wrong with her please 🙏 😩😩

Hey @Jessie4 ,

Firstly, welcome to the forums.

I'm really sorry to hear about your sister. It sure sounds stressful.

If these symptoms have been persistent, it's worthwhile taking her to a doctor to get a referral for a therapist. The therapist may recommend she access CAHMS or a similiar youth service - all this takes time to get into.

There are also youth services like Headspace that she may be able to access.

Maybe this website may be helpful for you: https://kidshelpline.com.au/teens/issues/hearing-voices?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImvarxLf3igMV_qhmAh35eiU1EAAYASAAEgJB8PD_BwE

Please know you are not alone. There IS help out there.

If she ever discloses risk/harm, taking her to your local emergency department or calling 000 is something to consider.

I can see how much you care.

Please you have to take into consideration that she’s a child it took a lot of reassurance to get this out of her , and all she really wanted was a diagnosis or someone relating to her problem.

Re: My name is Jessie and I am new here

Absolutely @Jessie4 . And a diagnosis needs to be done by a professional. Unfortunately, these forums are not able to give clinical advice.

Is that what you mean?

I hope she gets the support she needs. I hear it is distressing for her - and probably you too.

Are u going to take down the story? She just needs to hear from people like her u wouldn’t deprive her of that right ?

Take down her story?

I think there's some miscommunication here.

So just to clarify, are you saying that you are posting on her behalf and she wants to hear from others?

That she is looking for those who relate to what she is going through and able to share their experiences?

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Hi @Jessie4 ,

Thank you for clarifying. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for your sister.

Do you think your sister would want to connect to other young people?

I'm mindful that the experiences here are generally for adults and may not be as helpful for your sister? What do you think?

If your sister is willing, I'd encourage her to connect to Reach Out Forums: https://forums.au.reachout.com/?sort=Top&filter=everything

I'll wait to hear from you.
