Something’s not right

Ruining my life - is it my BiPolar/ADHD/Trauma?

Ruining my life - is it my BiPolar/ADHD/Trauma?

HELP please! I’m in a deep low at the moment. Went back to work this week and blew up at my boss twice, to the point I should have been fired (and still could be). Suicidal thoughts, can’t manage my anger, everything little thing sets me off into crying or a rage. What the hell is going on?!

My deepest core belief is that I’m “not good enough”. Everything I do is never enough and I constantly over try to make things “perfect”. Sure, logically I know it’s not possible, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s my nature to go over and above. But then I get mad at everyone else and pick out that they also think I’m not good enough (probably because I can’t take in any good feedback if they tell me and then overemphasis on all the criticisms).

I have a diagnosis of bipolar, borderline personality disorder, and adhd among other things.

I am normally super diligent with my routine taking my medication, getting proper sleep, looking after myself in every way - but right now I’m am struggling so badly. Deeply depressed, suicidal thoughts and every tiny thing sets me off into a meltdown. My doctor has increased my meds to help calm me down, but it’s not a long term solution and doesn’t fix the situation I’m in.

Yesterday I had two massive fights with my boss that lead to me hyperventilating and having a panic attack, all while yelling at her that everything is her fault and I hate working there and hate the company etc. It was beyond unprofessional, but it’s done and I can’t take it back. In the moment everything I said was true, but it came out badly and shouldn’t have been said. I also cried so much (I can’t help it, I’m a crier!) that I couldn’t take a breathe and my boss kept telling me to calm down as I wasn’t being professional… as if I could control it!! I would if I could!!

I don’t think I can take back anything that happened this week or take back anything I said. I’m sure that she’s wishing she never hired me and trying to find a way to fire me (which she tried to do at my probation review a few months ago).

Im not getting what I need out of this job, but it’s clearly because of my own mental health issues that I’m in this situation. I’ll never get hired somewhere else, so I really really need to keep this job. But I’ll never be able to be happy or do well when I truly believe I’m not good enough and will keep working myself to the bone to prove to everyone that I am good at what I do, despite the constant comments and complaints about me.

I can’t tell anyone about my diagnosis or ongoing issues as they just judge me and don’t understand. I need to fix my brain somehow as it’s not like they can help or support me without it all coming down.

I’m screwed either way. So that’s why the thoughts of trying to disappear and stop the pain and just not exist so that everyone else will be happy comes in.

How do I fix all this when my life is such a mess?!

@Ruledbyemotions ok first of all I want you to take a deep breath and tell yourself that it's going to be OK.

You have alot going on and you can't blame yourself for everything. I'm hearing that you have alot of negative feelings towards yourself which is understandable given what's happened but it's not going to help in the long run.

You can't change what's happened but you can get support to hopefully help you manage the way things are in the future. Medication needs to be used in conjunction with therapy so talking to a psychologist or counsellor.

Suicidal thoughts are horrible to deal with but you aren't alone, there's a whole community here that will support you however they can.

Please if you are feeling unsafe reach out to a crisis line such as Lifeline or Suicide call back service or 000 in an emergency.

Please take care of yourself. I'm here if you want/need to chat.

@Ruledbyemotions

i understand you not wanting to discuss your medical treatments or diagnosis.
But you can earn people’s understanding and respect by admitting you want to do the very best and that means making time for your mental health. That is a basic human right and everyone has hard weeks, months even years not just the mentally unwell like us.

maybe let your boss know you did feel you were out of line and it’s something your working on atm you’ve just been under pressure.
hopefully this buys you time to get in a better place. You are obviously talented or you wouldn’t have a job at all.

our mental health issues are like waves of emotion that come and go.
Stand your ground but try to be kind to others as they can not fully understand how you feel and the struggle you have.
bipola and all the others do ruin our life. But so do many things.

Try focus on what’s good.

And the fact that what’s good, is good enough.

Give your self a break. Be kind to yourself . I hope you feel better soon.

And I hope you can clear your mind so you can focus again and move forward.

I can't claim to know for sure, but I know Yoga can help. Find out about traditional 8 step ashtanga yoga. Within 60 mts, it really really calms one down and centres you for hours. If you do it regularly, you will find a significant change. If you are in the south east, look up yoga school of India under Samir Rane, its only $55 monthly unlimited twice in person and online... or mypranayogaforlife.com.au $50 monthly.

Re your job, just write a brief apology and sincerely just say you can only try manage better next time. Don't judge yourself. You can't. You are good as you are.. truly.

I'll pray for you...

Hey @Ruledbyemotions

Welcome to the forums.

I also have bipolar and cPTSD.

The constant anger out the outbursts could be a manic or mixed episode. Or it could be medication related. The last time I was in hospital my psych took my anti-depressant away. I have been much calmer since.

Just something for you to think about. I know how hard it is to try and control something that can’t be controlled.

It’s just based on what has happened to me.
