@Bow Nice that they give you a full 9 days advanced warning isn't it? 😒 I wonder how long they've actually had this ultimatum on their desk? I'll bet it's been a lot longer then just 9 days.

if this actually goes ahead it is going to have devastating consequences for so many people. My psychiatrist is through community mental health, so is included in this.

Do you have confirmation of that? You should get direct notification from the clinic, or the psychiatrist themself, if your a patient and they are discontinuing their service.

@Bow @chibam I'm not in NSW but saw this was coming ip on news media before Christmas. At that time they said they expected to re-employ a lot of the psychiatrists as locums at a hugely inflated cost.

I don’t know yet @chibam i got back from overseas 2 days ago and haven’t had any contact with my comm mh team yet.

ah ok @Dimity i didn’t see anything, but have been overseas though.

Yeah @Dimity i just did a quick google and have had a read of stories from just before Christmas and also a couple of days ago. So yeah been going on for a little while, over pay issues.

Im in Victoria and have been told by more than one person working in MH area that I have a very, very low chance of finding new psychiatrist within my state, including ones that only do Telehealth appointments.

MH clinic who provide in patient and outer patient care that my local dr referred me to, none of their psychiatrists are taking new patients.

Trying to find a psychiatrist who is based any where in Australia, who offers Telehealth appointments and is taking new patients is becoming almost impossible.

Damn. I was talking to people on here only a few days ago about the unemployment crisis; and here we see yet again the government adopting the absolutly awful policy of filling it's job vacancies by importing workers from overseas, rather then giving jobs to unemployed Australians!

And they wonder why so many of us are depressed and reaching out for help!

Wow. And all this after the Royal Inquiry that was supposed to fix the Victorian system.

TBH, I say let all those shrinks quit! Good riddance to them! Clear the slate for a new wave of therapists who won't turn the system into the choked mess it is now!
