Want to connect with other life-long mdd peeps

Want to connect with other life-long mdd peeps

I'm 30, I've been dealing with MDD all my life. It's so annoying when even the people who love and support you barely understand MDD. No judgement from me, it's just how life is hey. I've taken my fair share of meds, done cbt and all kinds of talk therapy. Been through my spiritual phases of this and that. Considering tms. That's about where I am atm. I've had some amazing years of life, but others totally disrupted and grinded to a halt by depression. So I'm looking to connect with anyone else who's been through it all, who understands mdd deeply, and needs some other people who just totally 'get it'. Peace and love, look forward to hearing from some of you ❤️

HI @iamlordoffunk ,

Welcome for joining us here and thank you for sharing.

It is difficult when there is very little support around you and even though you've tried so hard, never gave up..still, nothing is working. We are glad you found this space. Hope you will be able to get some support from our other members.

Re: Want to connect with other life-long mdd peeps

Welcome to the forums.

Hopefully you find others to connect with.

A lot of people just think depression equates to sadness, but don't seem to grasp how it's actually so much more than that. Fatigue, brain fog, loss of interest in things, isolation, changes in appetite, ignoring self care, self loathing etc etc. That's why you can't just "think yourself" out of this disorder.

I've given up trying to explain this, and educate people about it. So I understand your frustration.

I'm more than 10 years older than you and have been depressed most of my life. But even then, I think I've managed to have a pretty good life. It's great that you recognise that you've had some amazing years. In fact, being only 30yo, your best years are probably still ahead of you (and I know how cliche that sounds).

I'm in my 40's now and feel like things are kind of getting on top of me atm, to use your phrase, right now I feel like things have ground to a halt. Inadequate support, not responding to meds, not employed, marriage issues.

I'm just feeling very unfulfilled, even though on paper I probably have a "great life". It's a lot to deal with but I'm still here and still fighting, and that's all we can do.
