Talking through trauma and PTSD

They don’t believe you if you have bipolar diagnosis? Just curious

They don’t believe you if you have bipolar diagnosis? Just curious

Hi!

I'm new here and I got a question.

I just wonder, if you were hospitalised with manic bipolar symptoms and mentioned sexual assault, and that was totally ignored, is it how it supposed to be?

basically, what matter is that you talk fast, jump from topic to topic, you were sleep deprived and seen “screaming and throwing things”

so it makes you not credible?

basically you make up the abuse and make no sense right? It is assumed you are not telling the truth right?

what matters is that you had enough sleep, speak slow and not jump from topic to topic?

basically if I spoke of sexual assault they just assumed … it is all rubbish? Thanks

so if you present like that nothing you say is valid?

I’m just confused

Hi @Catsarecute I'm so sorry to hear that you had this experience and weren't listened to or taken seriously.

I can't speak from my own lived experience on this, but this isn't something that should have been ignored. Do you feel able to follow this up or put a complaint in?

Do you have any other supports around this at the moment? If you need to talk to someone, 1800RESPECT can provide support and counselling, as well as information on what support is available near you
