Anxiety and panic attacks

Anxiety and panic attacks

Ok so today has been particularly rough and I've found myself extremely overwhelmed and having a panic attack. Several things have happened to trigger memories from events that I'm going/ gone through. Now I feel like I've tried every distraction possible but right now nothing is working to calm myself down. I'm open to ideas if anyone has anything to suggest please. I've tried cooking, cleaning, writing, crafts, colouring or drawing, watching a movie, listening to music, reading a book, playing games on my phone, doing puzzles, going for a walk, having a shower, breathing exercises, meditation, going for a drive.

Fair enough @Former-Member

Have you ever thought that maybe reaching out to someone could help.

You could always ring a helpline. If you are not comfortable in talking to someone you could always use the chat feature. Sometimes just knowing you are not going through this alone can help.

@Snowie i spent ages very early this morning trying to reach out to lifeline with no success unfortunately.

Sorry to hear that @Former-Member Sometimes the wait times are long. I've given up on it before too.

I know Sane have a good helpline. They aren't open 24/7 like lifeline or suicide call back service, but they are really good to talk too. I can't give you wait times however.

@Snowie it can be frustrating when wait times are so long but it just goes to show how many people are needing help or to just talk to someone.

Re: Anxiety and panic attacks

@Former-Member you are right, there are so many people needing to use the helplines. Just shows how much more funding is needed to employ more people. Unfortunately the people on the other end are probably just as frustrated as we are when we have to be put on hold.

@Snowie very true. But they do an amazing job and it's very lucky we have services to help like that.
