Need advice: I'm starting to feel nauseous, light headed and overwhelmingly tired whenever I have to do normal life chores

Need advice: I'm starting to feel nauseous, light headed and overwhelmingly tired whenever I have to do normal life chores

Hi all, don't know if this is the right space to ask, but thought I'd try.

So I'm recently getting extremely light headed and stupidly tired whenever I try to deal with certain normal life admin tasks. Specifically paying bills.

This doesn't make sense to me - I'm almost 40 and have never had trouble with this. I've always payed my bills on time. I have the money to do that, but whenever I log into my email or banking I feel honestly like I'm going to throw up or pass out. I mean that literally.

I just went through a messy break up that cost me a lot of money so money has been tighter than normal (plus the cost of living crisis) but still I have enough to cover these basic bills - not like I'm living too far beyond my means.

Yet now I'm missing due dates and deadlines and the (imagined) complexity of paying a bill becomes so overwhelming I just give up and fall asleep at my desk.

I feel so stupid typing this, it's not even a serious issue. But it's new and kind of scary.

Would anyone have advice on what I could do?

@Jlol Your nervous system may be overworked due to fight or flight reactions to your workplace situation and the separation from your ex. You may also have depleted adrenals because of all this toxic stress. If your adrenals have been pumping out stress hormones it will mean that your body will experience extreme fatigue as a result. I would look into seeing a healer(s) explaining what is going on with you. If there is something wrong with your health you should get it checked out by someone who knows what they are doing. I think tend to think it may be your adrenals and nervous system. It can be easily fixed. You have been experiencing so much stress that its affecting your health

@Jlol I have an irrational aversion to using my laptop I don't really want to analyse. I'm getting by with my tablet and old smart phone.

You say

"I just went through a messy break up that cost me a lot of money "

Perhaps the association of financial matters with that very traumatic time in your life is the key. If so, then how do you override it, get around it, or avoid it? Awareness is the start.

Maybe until you figure it out you need to set up strategies like automatic direct debit, and using cash.

There's a trauma space here on the forums if you're wanting to start talking through your trauma with the forum clan.

Best wishes.

Hi @Jlol

I agree with @Former-Member, it just sounds like too much stress is affecting your physical health. It is exhausting to deal with so much to the point where even tiny things that never bothered us before now seem like insurmountable tasks. It's so difficult when we're feeling overwhelmed and then even tiny things feel so difficult and we start to doubt ourselves.

Please dont feel stupid at all, you've clearly been through a lot and this stress and anxiety, especially with the financial worries is hitting you on top of everything else. So even though you may still have the money to pay the bills, just everything else on top of that now, especially emotionally, is just making it some much hard to process and so they feel so much bigger. I would say that it's a very real and valid response and in no way a reflection of your abilities or you as a person.

As a small tip that i've found helpful when feeling overwhelmed, just try breaking things down into small tasks and see if that helps. Even if it just means setting aside a certain time regularly to work on the bills for example. If you don't get them all done in that time, then they wait until the next time. I find that even when the allotted time is up, and i still have more to do, I feel better about leaving it or I just dont feel that stressed to continue on for a little bit longer because it is my choice to do so.

Don't feel silly. In hindsight when I went through what you are going through (about 2 years ago) I can look at it now as shedding of an old skin where every cell in your body is repositioning itself for your future. It is you protecting you telling you to breath and do 1 thought at a time to get through a task or a decion. Or do no things at a time and rest. You got this!
