Christmas survival tactics

Christmas survival tactics

Who's got there tactics ready for the approaching festivities?

I almost got my Christmas wish, a safe home, as mum husband was asked to leave a month ago yet somehow the trajectory has changed and he is back. Additionally I have tried to voice my request to change my room to spare to help me safe as possible in an environment I can't control and I have been denied. I have been told I owe him a chance after everything and that it's the "Christian" thing to do :face_with_rolling_eyes:

basically I've come to terms with the fact my voice is not heard here and I am about to get even familiar with my very small room as I refuse to be forced in situations I am not ready for. Christmas has always been huge for me and I've done absolutely nothing yet but somehow my peace is more important this year as I've already lost so much this year another thing, isn't the be all.

So this is my list, what's yours?

Have you noticed that a lot of your list is really around boundary setting @Former-Member ?

It may be something to focus on. That is, setting healthy boundaries. But yes, I recognise things are VERY different when you are dependent on another.

Have you finished Good Doctor? I was watching it ages ago. Not sure if they have a new season.

Hi @tyme

talking if tactics is there any online courses around cbt or dbt or anything to help with managing distress that might be productive to do at this time?

Re: Christmas survival tactics

The ones I know are more live group sessions @Former-Member

Have you heard of This way up? https://thiswayup.org.au/

That may be helpful.

I believe that if you get a referral, you can access it for free. Don't quote me though. I may be getting mixed up with another service @Former-Member

All the best with it.

Also, once, someone mentioned Betwixt? It's a 'game' to support people with their MH.

Hi @tyme @can you tell me where the breakdown might have been for getting help from Dane? And if any other options I need someone to talk to daily to stop me from giving up in a violent home. I have had no shower for over a week and can't acces meds. Tried dv connect but because of my disability i need hospital first and I ma terrified of that place and never want to go alone but reminded i have no one else to help me do it. Plus leaving here will

be freeing but also I will lose the last piece of family even if they are abusive that's eeveryine this year gone anyway I don't even know what I'm saying cos I've been trying for months and helps not come not sure really.

Re: Christmas survival tactics

Hi @Former-Member I just wanted to add two other online free courses that I believe are both based on CBT: MindSpot and MindStep, both very similar names but from different providers

I wonder if you've heard of AskIzzy? It's sort of like a service finder which can help you connect with supports in your area - they cover lots of different supports, from food and financial support, to housing, advocacy, legal, and domestic and family violence help. It could help to look into some of the different options available to you
