Co-worker

Co-worker

Unsure if this is the right place but I'm just looking for some guidance.

One of my co-workers has a meth addiction. Im quite certain they are not sober. We work in an environment which could be dangerous given there is machinery constantly moving around. They are also making other staff scared (they dont know the issue is drugs) which is leading the then gossiping. This gossip is further fuelling his paranoia and psychosis. Im just lost what to do. They are my bosses son so I cant go to her. Id have to go above her to raise my concerns and that would be a whole thing. He would definitely not be allowed at work. He has brought drugs to work before which i have confiscated from him. Hes such a lovely, sweet guy who is just going through it and I dont know how to help. His safety comes first but it feels like such a betrayal. Im concerned hes literally going to start a fist fight at work sometimes. One minute he is fine then the next he is aggressive and cannot be reasoned with. I work with a lot of very small woman who are nearing retirement age, he is a 6 foot tall 21 year old. Physically he could really hurt someone in a split second. He says he is in treatment but he is very chilled about it. He drinks a lot of alcohol and uses weed too. Can someone be in recovery and using other substances? Im quite sure hes still using meth as he is very paranoid about people going near his bags which hes had the meth in before. Anyway, any advice on how to navigate this would be great. He needs help but its not being taken seriously and hes either going to hurt himself or someone else.

Re: Co-worker

Hello @Greyhoodie maybe and there's a HR person at your work and you can ask for a meeting with them and with them offer this feedback you observed in your colleague..

You looking out for best interest of other people and yourself at work and someone foreman or something would share this concern too I'm sure

Re: Co-worker

Hi @Greyhoodie

It may seem like you are dobing your co-worker but you are only trying to help him from getting hurt or seriously injuring other people. On the other hand lot of companies would dismiss their workers on the spot, you wouldn't want your co-worker to lose their job either. It's good to make him aware of this, he needs help, someone to talk to and be heard. This is a tough one, hopefully, your co-worker receives the support he deserves, take care.
