I guess just how you found the work and what your job entails. It’s a really good program that SANE runs and very unique too. Do you do talks and stuff to community groups as well?
@Cuddlebear our role basically combines moderation (managing posts with risks, making sure it meets community guidelines and all that) and peer support/community building (encouraging members to connect and share, providing a space and listening ear, etc). there's some moderators on here that just do that 'moderation' part (they'll have a 'moderator' title rather than 'peer support worker').
we have some members who have done talks at conferences and even travelled overseas to share how important online communities can be. a lot of the time, we pass on info to other parts of the SANE team (who don't work directly on the forums, like the partnership team members) who also do more of the advocating/talking/reaching out, etc.
i'm not super comfy with speaking in front of groups of people, so i love this role - being able to connect and support people online, e-meeting so many amazing people across Australia that i would've missed out on meeting in real life (like you!!!), etc - i'm very grateful for this community and space 💙
