Study Group

  • @MJG017 @tyme @Jynx @rav3n @Ru-bee

Hi guys,

Looking for all those that are intending to study in 2025 to complete the cert IV Mental Health Peer Work.

This is a space for our study group, where we can discuss what we are studying and hopefully get some input from current Sane Peer support workers.

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

Thank you for the invitation @Oaktree 🙂

I'm currently studying a Cert IV in Mental Health Peer Work and have 5 other TAFE qualifications:

  • Introduction to the NDIS
  • Cert IV in Community Services
  • Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Diploma of Community Services
  • Recognising and Responding to Sexual Violence

I am due to graduate in June 2025 and complete 8 years of study, for now.........

Lovely to be here!!

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

Wow @RiverSeal

you are bound to have all the answers to our questions with that impressive list of achievements. Looking forward to studying with you this year. I am keen to get started but I will probably get anxious about the assignments when I get them lol

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

Thank you @Oaktree ❤️ If you are attending class and participating in discussions then the assignments are easier to complete. And there is support at TAFE to help you to learn how to write and do research. I have an Equitable Learning Plan ( Disability Plan), sometimes called different things at different TAFE's. It allows me to study part-time and get extensions on assignments too. RiverSeal

?

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

@Blackcloud

did you ever do any of the I.T bachelor courses after completing the advanced diploma? 😊

No, I just did the advanced diploma, mainly to just get the qualification and the TAFE I did it at was incorporating CCNA at the time in the Cert IV. I then just stuck around for the rest. I'd already been working it IT for quite a long time and was self taught so the course was more for my own personal interest more than anything.

@Oaktree i've changed the title of the thread to '2025 - study group', is that what you wanted? (i haven't really done changes to thread names before so let me know if i haven't done it right and i can get one of the other mods to fix it later tonight)

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

Hi @tyme

I emailed the tafe and let them know that I needed to see the access and disability people to have a chat about any accommodations I may need. They set up an appointment for Tuesday but I need a form filled out by my doctor and of course I didn’t have an appointment. So I put the form in an envelope and took it to the clinic and let them know that I would pick it up on Monday afternoon. Hopefully that works out. I am not sure if my psychiatrist will put down any accommodations because I have been so well. I guess I will talk to the tafe people about that on Tuesday. I really just need my doctor to confirm my diagnosis
