Need to decompress somewhere

Need to decompress somewhere

Need to decompress somewhere. Was just reminded what it felt like for me in the past. Don't really want to go into detail. Just want to vent somewhere. I remember once feeling angry and upset and frustrated and abandoned. Maybe more than once. Hurgh. I'm glad that feeling is over for now, just hate being reminded of it.

Re: Need to decompress somewhere

Thanks @tyme . I feel bad for anyone who has to go through that explosion of emotions and I'm so scared of having to go through that again. Luckily I think it goes away with age? I hope? Hurgh. Maybe not. Does it go away with experience? Will I just dissociate if I feel like that again?

I can't afford on any level to feel that dysregulated again. Though is it dysregulation when those feelings are justified? Or is it only dysregulation when others don't approve of that much emotion being expressed. Can't bottle it up forever though. Can't bottle it up and properly function like others. Is it dysregulation when you can't function normally?

Glad for this site. Feel that I can talk here and help others too in some small insignificant way. Glad people like Arradreaming can get angry on here. I'm sorry that the PGC chat is gone for a while though.

We can still hold a chat here on the forums in lieu of the PGC @Cleo2 .

As for the emotional dysregulation, I really hear where you were coming from. I think much of my life was like that where I split and exploded. It was not pretty. I remember flying into a rage if I had an idea in my head or if someone closed a door, or if someone typed a "." at the end of their text message.

But research does say that it improves over time. However, if you want to speed up the process, then psychotherapy is very important.

Let's just say that it wasn't until my early-mid 30s that things started changing. I'm in a much better place now and the rages hardly happen.

Re: Need to decompress somewhere

Thanks for replying @tyme and thanks for telling me a bit about your experience. I did psychotherapy once but I could only do it once a month due to expenses. It didn't do a lot for me.

Time seems to be the only thing that really works but I don't have so much of that now. I haven't flown into a rage in years but I'm afraid of it.

I'm glad you got therapy that worked for you.

I feel a bit better now, listened to some music. Not panicking.

Re: Need to decompress somewhere

That's so great to hear that the rages haven't been around @Cleo2

In a way, I feel that as I go forward, it's quite unlikely that I'll regress in my recovery.

Do you feel that?

I'm glad music has helped.
