Anyone started with the NDIS?

Anyone started with the NDIS?

Tells my story from initial application (Feb '17) to acceptance by NDIS (July '18) and the process of putting things in place and progress, improvements, managing and difficulties since then. Now Jan '21.

Original post : I've recently moved and will need to get into the NDIS in my new location. Wondering if anyone in the forums has successfully done this? Any advice would be welcome. Feeling swamped by their website.

EDIT : I was finally accepted to the NDIS and am now 3/4 through my 2nd plan. With only a small reduction from the first year. And this plan is for 2 years so I don't have to jump through all the hoops with a review this time next year. To all others on this path I say ........

IT'S REALLY WORTH PERSEVERING!!!

Hoping this thread helps all who come here.

@utopia I come from a small business background which was staunchly Libs but I have always had a greenie streak in me ... it has been a hard balance between the two *sigh*

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

As far as I know @utopia and @Bunniekins the scheme was originally introduced by Julia Gillard. But the libs have had control of it for some time now and certainly haven't improved it. I'm a staunch greens supporter myself from a labour family - parents were both in education. But MPs seem to have a way of being responded to by NDIS, whatever their party. Media has been known to help too.

But as I've said before I highly recommend Disability Advocates and if your case has unique aspects they arrange for a legal aid solicitor to be funded too. Hoping it doesn't come to this for you as it did for me. Before you can do an AAT appeal you have to have done a 'request for review of a reviewable decision' with NDIS - an internal review.

@saturnzoon the above paragraph may be useful info for you too.

@eth@Bunniekins

Have never voted for Labor or Liberal parties. Used to vote Democrates. Now Greens all the way.

Ned more Greens and smart Independents in seats.

@utopia Yes environmental and animal rights issues have always been an issue for me which is why the Libs have always been a problem for me but I am very suspicious of unions ...

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@Bunniekins. The Greens are also very big on human rights. Supporting the most vulnerable in our communities and increasing all Centrelink pensions, so people don't have to struggle as hard as they have been. But we each have our own journey and own priorities that define who we vote for.

My preference is just that NO ONE vote for the Liberals. lol. Liberals love cutting mental health spending.
