Anyone started with the NDIS?

Anyone started with the NDIS?

Tells my story from initial application (Feb '17) to acceptance by NDIS (July '18) and the process of putting things in place and progress, improvements, managing and difficulties since then. Now Jan '21.

Original post : I've recently moved and will need to get into the NDIS in my new location. Wondering if anyone in the forums has successfully done this? Any advice would be welcome. Feeling swamped by their website.

EDIT : I was finally accepted to the NDIS and am now 3/4 through my 2nd plan. With only a small reduction from the first year. And this plan is for 2 years so I don't have to jump through all the hoops with a review this time next year. To all others on this path I say ........

IT'S REALLY WORTH PERSEVERING!!!

Hoping this thread helps all who come here.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Thankyou @utopia and @Appleblossom. I really hope that the record I've made of my journey so far will help others. That's a large part of the reason I've kept documenting it. And will keep doing so as negotiations with NDIS proceed.

I believe it will. @eth

and it is fair that the NDIS are aware that they are watched by the relevant user/group or consumers.

@eth@Heart@Appleblossom@utopia@Sophia1@Mazarita and all although my profoundly disabled son's package was approved it had been dramatically underfunded so that he couldnt attend respite or discos in other words socialise with other people his own age outside his day care program.

I have put forward an appeal and will let you all know but to say the least I am bitterly disappointed 😞

@Bunniekins throw the term 'choice and control' at them - that's what they say they enable for participants.

@Bunniekins - glad you are advocating for your son. Socialising with our peers is so important. It's part of a healthy lifestyle.
I hope the NDIS sees sense soon.

@utopia Hi Utopia 🙂 and good morning if you could see the small sum of money we are asking for it is crazy it wasnt included. Shame they didnt meet my son when they decided on the amount as I am sure that would have made a huge difference.

Hey @Bunniekins if you have another planning meeting with your review are you able to take him with you? Might be difficult I get that, but maybe good for them to see how things are with him.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@eth Well funny you should say that. On Monday I took him with me to drop off the form of appeal hoping to talk with the NDIS woman who I had the first meeting with but she was away interstate ... I will definately take him with me it will make all the difference lol.

My 11 yr old son Has NDIS package since 2016 for Autism, when I first applied back then we recieved a good package for early intervention, social skills and living skills, then in 2017,when it was due they just extended it till Jan 2018.

We had a review for his plan in December, his plan ran out in January and only went t through beginning May so I had no help for him for 4 months and things got worse, we kept ringing them every week and emailing them to no availabl, then in April, my workers contacted them multiple times a weekand told it was being escalated up to urgent but still nothing first week of may, so we emailed the MP who contacted them and the 2nd week of may finally went through, for one of CB it was halved abd the core was was just over half.

They said that there is more than 60% over for what has been budgeted and all reviews could take up to 6 months to go through and the older ones have been categorized from highto low so depending on the circumstances the low categories could tak e up to a year or more with not a lot of money to help, and for all Autism/Aspergers they are now looking at changing the umbrella again and sub categorizing them into the 3 high medium and low and if they don't qualify for the high level then we loose the NDIS.
