Hey everyone!

Hey everyone!

Hi! I'm a recent joiner on these forums and just had my first group session just this night. I hope everyone is having a good time and are vibing where you can. 😉
I'm a 36 yr old dude, that found out last year that I have ADHD and Aspebergers (Which is about as great a surprise as you could get, beside Christmas, and you've been telling your parents all about this Transformer you've really wanted, and you get socks.) It's been difficult to come to grips with, especially when you feel that 'everything will be fine when I have a stable job, a house, partner and be an adult' and it's a case of 'Soz, but it's going to be awkward and a struggle always'.
My interests? Transformers, 40k, RPGs (Tabletop and PC), Video Games, Art, my doggos, writing (As a typical ADHD person, I have grand ambitions, of finishing my fantasy book, tabletop RPG book, and Scifi book).
I work in ICT, but I'm really interested in learning more about counselling, as psychology has been an interest, and especially, I want to help people that also have ADHD or are also on the spectrum, I know it can be difficult to explain just how frustrating or shocking intrusive thoughts can be (The call to the void anyone?) and I want to be able to talk people through their issues, as it weirdly seems like I think I do well?

Also thought of the day:
Remember that you have taken a lot of steps in life to get here, and it may have been hard, painful and stressful-you've made it this far and there are many that admire how much you've put in, and I'm proud of you!

Also picture of my doggos, being cute as heck:

Hey!

I recently found out that I’m autistic and have ADHD as well, I’m a 25 F.
If you’re interested in working with similar people I’d have a look into peer work (lived experience work) and any neurodiverse services around you, you might have to do some digging!

If you do choose to work in lived experience, look after yourself and be kind to yourself. Ensure you work out what you’re comfortable with sharing and what you’re not, you don’t have to share everything!!

Also I have two greyhounds as well, what are your beautiful noodle dogs names? And

Re: Hey everyone!

@BigM Wow! That's crazy! Mine was just last year that I found out! It's been a slow climb since! I'd love any neurodiverse resources you would suggest!

That's great advice! I'll definetely take it on board!

My dogs names are Tink and Waggy, what are the names of yours? 🙂

Re: Hey everyone!

@GorionPax Teehee...that was my next guess. Their names are great. I have a chihuahua. What RPG games do you play? I play Dungeons and Dragons (and WoW).

And welcome @BigM

Re: Hey everyone!

Hey @GorionPax, welcome to the forum, and great to meet another gamer here. Your name doesn't come from Baldur's Gate does it?

I found myself in a similar position this year work wise... or direct in life wise. I to working in IT, but this year I decided it really didn't interest me anymore. It just didn't seem important to me anymore. I decided to look into peer work because I found out this year that it's something I really felt strongly about, especially with the lived experience. So a couple of weeks ago I even enrolled in a Cert IV: Mental Health Peer Work to start early next year. If you think this is something you want to do and it feels 'right' for you, then go for it. Life is too short!

Give the doggos a pet from me.
