Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

ok if your sure @Zoe7

today as if it wasnt hard enough already, as i had a really horrbile night with visions and thinking things are there when they arent really there. so didnt sleep to well, myanxiety is sky high as my sister has a cold and everytime she coughs she sets my anxiety off so all day pretty much as mum was at work so ia had her all day incuding taking her to the drs

but when mum got home, i was invited out with a couple of people so i decided it might be what i needed and took the opportnity to go out.

and it started off good, you know general chit chat how you going that sort of thing and i was glad to have gotten out but then as they know about my mental health conditions they said hows your counselling going, have you improved that sort of thing whihc i didnt mind answering they were pretty generl questions but when i said today i went to my gp and she thinks im pushing my mental health professional away as i just dont want to go to them and so i keep resheduling. and she asked my why im diong that and then me and my 'friends' got into abit and i meantioned my gp has been pestering me to get a blood test to check my thyroid as it could be partly to blame for my depression.

and my friends really took that opportunity didnt they and they started saying well maybe the diagnoses were wrong, theres probably nothing wrong with you at all.

and when i was telling them about some of the symptoms they said well maybe your jsut doing it for attention and theres nothing wrong with you at all cause they never get those symptoms.

maybe its all just in my head and i shouldnt worry about it.

then we got into blood tests and i said i really dont like needles, i cant get over the fear and they pretty much just scoffed at me and said to grow up and im just being stupid and im the one damaging my own health

@utopia my cocky isnt working too well 😞 i cant get some of the features right... dont worry though ill get there

Re: Am Not Coping

@Former-Member It really sounds like these 'friends' do not have a clue abour MI at all and cannot understand what anyone goes through when they are 'suffering' from a MI - sometimes when people don't understand they try to pretend it isn't 'real'.

@Former-Member. My motto has always been:
Educate all who are interested in mental health.
If they can't understand or won't understand - don't waste any more energy trying to explain it to them.

do you know what the matter worse though @utopia @Zoe7 they ahve been through depression and anxiety themselves thats why i though they would understand, maybe i am just a freak whos just imaging things that arent there

Re: Am Not Coping

I bet they haven't had to deal with all the 'other stuff' you have had to though @Former-Member - I may be wrong but it seems like they are very naive still otherwise they would not be treating your MI so trivally.

Re: Am Not Coping

Hi @Former-Member

Most GPs will take blood tests to rule out thyroid problems. They need to rule out medical reasons first. I had to have them, I'd imagine most of us have had blood tests before. My son's girlfriend is 21 and is petrified of needles and takes a support person with her every time because for her her thyroid levels are on the edge of normal. It's the best way to help with a mental health diagnosis of depression because sometimes malfunctioning thyroids can add or create depression.

I hope this helps. I'm sure your GP has your best interests at heart.

It would be hard to have those conversations with friends you thought would be more supportive. I also know that it's a hard age for people to really have developed empathy skills for someone else even if they have similar experiences. My kids tell me this too. I'm sorry you didn't get the support you were looking for.
