Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

Hi back to you @Sam3 and to Everyone else here today. Hope today has got off to a decent start and warm wishes to those who are wobbly today. Hope it improves for you.

@Faith-and-Hope You might be interested to look at the HireUp platform

https://hireup.com.au/ for independent support workers. I'm pretty sure they're in every state. I've used them and find it an excellent system. You make a profile on there (including a bit about yourself, your abilities and your interests and after that you can see the profiles of support workers. Then you post what the job is that you're looking for someone to do and interested support workers will contact you. I don't think you have to have NDIS to use them, not entirely sure about that. Their hourly rate is a bit less than average too.

Best of luck finding someone or a team of someones to work with your daughter.

The carer is for D2 @Owlunar @so D3, S2 and I can continue our studies. My mr. has seen fit to pull out of caring for her two days a week so he can fly across the country to stay with his mother ..... not on our class-free days, because that doesn’t suit him ..... and with very little warning. It’s all part of the mi he is not acknowledging and seeking treatment for.

* * *

That is so much to deal with @Faith-and-Hope - I don't know how you do it - and having Mr with an MI he fails to acknowledge is such a rough deal and he feels it necessary to see his mother interstate rather than care for his children - however many need it - oh - this is not a good example he is setting and I think D3 and S2 are being affected by that

I went back to school to save myself - and I waited until the children had started school before I did this and had everything I needed to do done while my son was out of the house. When I had a burn-out after a couple of years of this with their dad working as a travelling salesman and away from home every second week people told me that studying was too much and to stop

I am glad I continued - a long time doing a four year degree part time after two years doing my HSC - but I support your going to university - you need interests of your own and the housework can wait - after all these years we know the dishes won't run off and get lost if we don't wash them - and things work out

I am starting a course at the U3A today - in two hours actually - the humidity gets to me but they have A/C there - and I am doing Western Philosophy and really looking foward to this - I have been reading a magazine called The New Philosopher recently and spoken to the coordinator as well and it isn't going back into the ancients - rather discussing modern issues and I think it will be great

All the best getting a carer for your kids Faith - pity about your Mr - I'm sorry he is still ignoring his condition but that is something you really have to leave up to the powers that be - I hope things are okay today

Thanks for that post @eth @How are you going? My negative anxious thoughts are only just in check & I feel a bit vulnerable. Trying to accept them rather than engage with them, but my mind & my house is very messy

Re: Am Not Coping

Hey @Sam3 I hope your thoughts have settled down. I'm having a complete rest day today. No chores, no outings. I find I cope better with busier days if I have a rest day at least once or twice a week. Not even any phone calls or home admin jobs (bills ets).

I reckon a messy house is one where there is life happening! And people who come, if any, come to see you, not to judge your house. As they say those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

@Faith-and-Hope @eth @Sam3 @Owlunar @frog @Sans911 @Snowie @CheerBear @Teej @Former-Member @Maggie and anyone I have missed or who has been reading along...

My first day in classes and working with kids today. I had a pretty good day. It is going to take me a while to get to know the kids as I am working across all grades from prep to grade 6. A lot of what I will be doing is working with small groups (and a couple of individual kids) - a lot of reading work which is actually my main weakness so it will be hard work. I am also going to be doing some maths work with a group and writing with another. The remaining classes I am in haven't organised anything yet but will see some of those classes and kids tomorrow - then I will have a better idea of what I will be doing.

I got a timetable when I arrived today and that really eased my mind a lot. I made some notes as I went today so I am prepared for the kids I will have next week (the ones I know about so far anyway). There is still a lot I need to find out but will do that as I go.

I am a little happier with how things went today and looking forward to tomorrow more than I was about going today. Hopefully things will continue to improve for me - the staff have continued to be lovely and supportive and seem genuinely happy to have me in their classes helping out - that is all I can ask for.

I won't be on here as much over work days and some mornings I won't have time to check in but I will be thinking of you all throughout the day and will catch up with you all in the afternoons/evenings when I can.

Hope you have all had a good day - I can't respond to all individual posts so hoping I will catch up with you all across the evening to check in with you all

Re: Am Not Coping

Great to hear you had a better feeling day today @Zoe7 🙂 Really good to hear the other staff seem to be supportive too. Sounds like a lot to get used to in your new role!

I can imagine you logging on here to about a bajillion notifications each day 😉 I know you'll look after you as well as you do but wanted to say that I (we all probably) understand if you're not up to responding to everyone or every tag. It is nice to see you though 😊

Thinking of you often with everything crossed that you're having a day with good in it ❤

(Also keeping 👀 out for friend news hoping that's going OK too)

Re: Am Not Coping

No friend news @CheerBear He was going to come around on Sunday but had someone coming to look at some stuff he was selling and it was getting too late for me. I needed to get things organised to start at work and needed that space at night to be able to get over my anxiety - so I said we would have to meet another time. I haven't chatted with him for a couple of days now but not going to be the one to message him. Now I am back at work I can't drop everything to meet so if we are going to again it needs to be more a time I am available and that may be harder to organise. I am not stepping back from it all rather looking after myself trying to get back into the work stuff. I will keep you updated though when I have some more news.

I plan on coming home and trying to catch up on notifications pretty much straight away - will also be my way to relax a little but if today is anything to go by then it may take me some time to get back to everyone - hoping to do that across the evening tonight but I also know you all understand if I miss a post here or there - certainly not intentional - just too many to get back to all individually. It is wonderful having all the positive messages of support though - makes my day

Re: Am Not Coping

Sounds like a great and very reasonable plan with friend @Zoe7. So understandable that going back to work is taking up some time and headspace.

It is nice to visit here and unwind a bit. Theres a whole SANE squad behind you and it's awesome that you can feel and see that ❤

Re: Am Not Coping

@CheerBear I also have felt a little pressure to make this all work for everyone here. When I was feeling quite down Tuesday I didn't want to post much because I knew that there was a rather large team (as you have said) behind me and I didn't want to let them (or myself) down. I do know that that was far from the case but that is how I was feeling - just tough not knowing what I was to be doing and not feeling that I had a space at work that was my own. That has been sorted out today and I feel better about that also. SO much still to be organised but it is getting there. I need to organise my Wednesday's also so I don't have too many appintments all on the one day - it is too much so will alternate gp and psych while I am still doing DBT and pdoc.
