Re: making new friends

That sounds great @samt31 🙂 I love how you can meet people with similar interests online through sites like meetup.com. Are you planning to join more groups or see this one again?

hi @Former-Member yeah the experience was great had some laughs afterwards. not really in my age group but i have added some other groups from meetup so when my partners working i can get out more instead being at home... i would like to see this group again but iam waiting to go back to work so theres funds to do more of these meetups which i did a shift yesterday so thats a start.

Re: making new friends

That's good to hear at @samt31. Did you feel the age difference? Sometimes I find that I can feel the difference in age with some people, but it can be totally different with other people. I guess it comes down to values and interests.

@sam31. Love this. Groups can be a great way of getting out socially. They can also be the 'push' to get you to do more things.
Try different groups for different activites and ages. I think it's a great place to meet new people and develop friendships.

hi @CherryBomb its funny the people in the group were sitting my row of the cinema but i didn't know that until the movie ended..i did feel the age difference but i guess age shouldn't matter it the sharing of movies that should matter but iam going to meet other groups to see if i can meet other closer to my age. still attend this group as they see really good movies..

Hi @samt31 - it's great to view a good movie with others. Does the groups go somewhere afterwards to discuss the movie? That would be a good way to get to know others betters i think. Good luck with the other groups you try 😌

Re: making new friends

Hi @samt31 - I am sure you will make friends this way. I went and saw the movie Collateral Beauty yesterday and I would have to say it was one of the best movies I have seen for awhile. Enjoyed it thoroughly

Re: making new friends

What a brilliant way of making new friends! For those of us living with mental illness it can be difficult to meet new people and make new friends. Here is a suggestion - why not consider doing some voluntary work. You only have to commit yourself to as many hours as you want,a a nd it will allow you to meet new people and get to know them through working together. I have a part-time job with St. Vincent de Paul, and I have met some wonderful people and feel like a member of a group making a difference. It you google Volunteering Victoria lots of opportunities will pop up. If you don't live in Victoria try googling your home state. Best wishes!
