Hey @Autumn_Leaf

It sounds like things are feeling really hard right now and I just want you know I'm here with you

Do you know what sort of coping tools work best for you? Some that I know work for me are: mindfulness and breathing exercises, getting fresh air and light exercise (just walking up the street and back), making myself eat, drink, and have a shower.

I also wonder if you've been able to talk to anyone else about what you're going through at the moment? Do you have any supports that you've been able to lean on?

Hi @Autumn_Leaf. It sounds really difficult for you right now. I can only really suggest the things @Ru-bee has already suggested. The thing that really helps me when I'm feeling really distressed is to just talk to someone. It's not something i'm used to or find comfortable but I find it helps me at least feel like I can regain some control back. Other than that, just getting out of the house and going for a bit of a drive or walk.

Re: rlly struggling

hey @Autumn_Leaf i'm really sorry to hear things have been tough for you, i know how overwhelming dealing with anxiety attacks can be. the others have suggested some great strategies already! i just wanted to share a few more that have helped me with my anxiety attacks:

  • taking 2 deep inhales through the nose, then holding for 3 seconds, and exhaling through the mouth - repeating this until you feel calm
  • place your hand over the body part you are feeling the most anxiety in (i.e. hand on your chest or stomach, etc) and tell yourself "i am safe. i am okay. i can do this" - basically its a way to convince your mind and body that you aren't in immediate danger.
  • intrusive thoughts are a tough one, i've been working on cutting them off as soon as they start and replacing them with positive thoughts even if i don't believe it in the moment- the aim is to keep the negative thoughts from overpowering my mind. so for example if my mind says "what if... *insert negative thought* or "i'm *insert negative thought*", i'll immediately cut it off with "what if things are better tomorrow, what's something fun to plan for myself?" or "i'm safe, i'm capable, i can get through this because i've gotten through this before", etc.

These may or may not work for you, I know that everyone responds differently but regardless, just wanted to let you know you're not alone here. i'm here to talk if you ever need 💗
