Hi @Maroona
Welcome to Sane! What a great time to start using the forums. The start of a brand new year. 🙂
Looking after an unwell child is such an enormous undertaking. It takes everything you've got. Which means that the more support you can access the better off you'll be. There's lots of great support to be accessed here in the forums. You'll find parents who have gone or are still going through stuff that's similar to yours. Lots of stories and experiences to share that you can use to help you navigate the tricky terrain. And of course, that unique feeling that comes from hearing from people who get what it's like to be in your shoes. 🙂
Self care is a huge part of keeping your head above water while you provide care to another. Check out the Looking After Ourselves forum here. All sorts of threads on the different things people do to make sure they're recharging their batteries..
Finally, as a parent who supported my eldest child through an HSC year that involved an anxiety disorder and an eating disorder, I relate to not knowing how hard to push. I opted for the gentle approach. Lots of encouragement to get out and do stuff but if she wasn't up for it, I let her be. TBH, I couldn't see the value in her undertaking an activity while completely miserable. She certainly got into all sorts of sports and hoobbies when she got better though.
But that was just me, I'm sure you'll hear from lots of other parents with their experiences.
Happy New Year!
