Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hey Forumites!!

This is a space for members new and old, to gather around and help make our newer members feel welcome!

We've all been newbies ourselves at some point, and can empathise with how incredibly daunting it can be entering a new space. A lot of folks have trouble even knowing where to start, and (even though we're in the midst of improving it all) we know the forums can be a tricky space to navigate - which can make it very difficult for newbies to be able to find their footing! On top of that, joining any established community means being 'the new kid on the block', and seeing others connecting easily with established relationships can sometimes feel like we aren't welcome, or that we need to 'break in' to the conversation somehow.

Well this space aims to alleviate that pressure and help facilitate some new connections! Whether you're brand new here or you've been here since the very beginning, you're welcome to come hang out, meet some new people, reconnect with others, and maybe even make a new friend!

We will try to tag new members as they join, so help us make them feel welcome!

Feel free to tell us a little about yourself, what brought you to the forums, and what you're looking for here!

Tagging in our lovely bunch of Community Guides too! They're seasoned members who volunteer their time and energy towards making the forums a safe and welcoming place for everyone. We wouldn't have the community we do without their efforts and their passion! Feel free to reach out to them, they're always quite happy to help guide and support 😊

Argh @AnxiousDuck .... pokemon is just so amazing. Developed by a neurodivergent teen who didn't 'fit in' at school.

I find the concepts just so incredible... like the powers of the pokemon and what are strong/weak defences etc. Honestly, WHO can come up with all this?

And. yes, I played pokemon Go last year... until I had enough.

I played Pokemon Go until about a year ago. I never learned all the ins and outs but I enjoyed going to Kings park with my son on community days.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry 😅 I didn't realise I wasn't tagging, I'll try to remember!

My day has been.. quiet. I've kind of been hiding in my room aha.. but I did finally restart a series I wanted to watch, Arcane. I restarted because it's been a while and I need the refresher before season 2. Besides that though I've just been trying to keep myself distracted.

What about you? How's your day been tyme?

Oh yeah ! I vaguely remember you having Pokemon Go. @Oaktree

At the moment, I just reading a lot of different books. No more games for me, coz I'm not really interested. I have to admit though, that as a teen, I did enjoy games - but we didn't have the range of games they have nowadays for kids.

I wonder what it is about kids and teens that they are so drawn to games?

I actually never knew that but that's amazing ❤️ it's always those people least expect that give us such great ideas!

I actually kind of understand that feeling actually, I stopped last year too. Although it wasn't so much having had enough as it was too painful to continue. I can't bring myself to delete the app though. I hope one day to be able to open it again.

I actually took a big gap in playing between its launch and 2020. By the time I returned I was completely lost and new to everything again haha. But I appreciated the distraction, alot of us did around then. I remember the community days though. I used to go on walks through our City Park with my parents and a few of my brothers, we all got involved for a while haha

Hey @AnxiousDuck ,

I don't know what Arcane is. I don't tend to watch things and my lovely brain can't process it. I prefer to read.

This morning, I went to church, then after, I went for a walk. That's pretty much it. I want a rest because I didn't get to sleep until after 3am this morning... but to be honest, I feel okay.

My naughty dog gave us a fright today. She got into a pill box and ate A LOT of strong medication (including antipsychotics, anti anxiety, anti depressants, fish oil, kril oil, vitamin B... I'm still monitoring her and hopefully she is okay. She seems okay after vomiting twice.

So yeah... joys of having a puppy.

Just a series that's gained a fanbase, I myself don't know too much about it, but I also prefer to read 🙂 I just needed the distraction to be a bit more consuming for me today, I had myself some pain I needed to distance myself from.

I'm glad you're feeling okay though, I had myself a walk this morning too although I didn't feel like it when I started, I'm glad I went.

Oh puppies are so tricky like that! Our youngest thinks plastic is delicious apparently, she's unable to get at anything now but we went through alot of remotes and tonnes of packaging before she turned her attention to tennis balls 😧

I'm glad you went for a walk and you felt better after @AnxiousDuck . Note to self: Make myself go for a walk even when I don't feel like it.

@AnxiousDuck , When I had my labrador pup (about 20 years ago), she destroyed the entire external air con unit but chewing through all the cords. It was a ducted system so it was a very expensive fix!

This naughty cavoodle pup I now how recently fell into the pool! She was walking around the pool and then slipped and fell in. It was such a shock for both her and me... thank god I was there and pulled her straight out!
