Welcome and getting started

BPD and ADHD Diagnosis

BPD and ADHD Diagnosis

Hi everyone,

I live 3 hours from Melbourne and have been diagnosed in the last two years with BPD, ADHD and C_PTSD. I don't really have access to much support where I am currently, as mental health professionals are few, far and inbetween.

I feel very alone so far and have been feeling this way chronically for the past like 5 years. I don't know if the feeling ever really goes away.

hey @bigtortoise welcome! so lovely to see you in our forums 😊

you're not alone in your feelings of loneliness here - we have such a lovely online community, feel free to check out our social spaces, its a great place to start building connections.

getting those diagnoses and not having access to support must be really difficult and isolating, but seeing you reach out here shows real strength. have you checked out the APS site before? might be worth having a browse to see if there's a psychologist near you?

We've also got counsellors at SANE Support Line who are available Mon-Fri 10am-8pm by calling 1800 187 263.
I'll also link some additional support services below:
Lifeline 13 11 14 https://www.lifeline.org.au/
Lifeline Text Support 0477 131 114 https://www.lifeline.org.au/crisis-text/
Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467

that lonely feeling does go away, it's not permanent. you are deserving of support and connection, and i'm glad to see you join us. 💗

Hey there @bigtortoise, welcome to the forums 🤗

I'm really glad you're here, hopefully being involved this likeminded community of people with lived experience of mental health is a good first step to helping to you feel less alone 🙏

I'm hearing you that being so far out from Melbourne makes it much more difficult for you to access treatment, supports and services. To be honest it can be difficult to navigate and find help even when living in city and suburban areas, that extra barrier of living regional or rural is not a small thing.

Thankfully there are some options as far as telephone and digital supports as @rav3n has listed a few.

Also if you're open to telehealth you can see therapists and doctors from other areas including Melbourne via mobile or webcam who might have more expertise and availability than the ones local to you, could be worth exploring?
