best friend

hi, im new here but I just needed somewhere to talk about this as I have no one I can say this to.

ive recently realised im in love with my childhood best friend, issue being that she definitely does not like me back.

she's close to being all I think about I just always want to be with her I dont know what to do with these feelings or how to talk about them. its just really hard knowing she doesn't like me back and I feel like I cant ever get over her. I cant tell her because I cant risk our friendships as she's my best friend.

any advice at all or anything really is so appreciated I just need someone to talk to about all this its a lot to process on my own lol.

Welcome to the forums. I'm really glad that you've found this space to share what you're going through. This is a lot to be keeping in, especially being unable to talk to your best friend about it.

If you really do feel that it's for the best that you don't pursue these feelings, then sharing them is probably a good start. Giving feelings space and room to breath can also help us to process them and begin to more forwards.

Falling out of love with someone doesn't happen overnight however, and it can be a long road to 'get over' these feelings, sometimes there will always be a lingering feeling but hopefully it can get to a place that's less consuming in time.

Perhaps it might be helpful to have some space from this friend when needed, both to help you work through your feelings, and to protect yourself (I know it can be so painful being around someone who doesn't share your feelings). Maybe it's a good time to connect with other friends while you process these feelings.

I do just want to say, I'm sorry you're going through this. It's such a painful and complicated situation, but unfortunately these things do happen and you're definitely not alone
