Hi I'm new here

Hi I'm Steve1981 [Edited by moderator], I have spent most of my life in and out of prison and addicted to drugs and alcohol. I have been out of jail for one year and clean and sober. I would love to say life is good but it's not. I have been dealing with depression and anxiety for the most part but I haven't given up even though I have felt like it. I guess I want to be a better father, son, brother and friend. I'm at my witts end and I'm willing to try anything to find ease and comfort. Hopefully this forum will be helpful and some day life a somewhat normal life.

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like you have been on quite the journey. Good on you for getting sober. I can hear things are tough. I hope that here you will find community and maybe some strategies for helping to deal with the anxiety and depression.

Nice to meet ye mate and well done on being clean and sober, that takes a lot of hard work, as I can so identify. I was addicted to drugs for 20 years, but have been clean for 4 years now. Do you have a support structure around you, any good friends who you can talk too. Sharing how you feel helped me enormously, you don't have to go through this alone. Have you been to your GP and explained your situation. Please know that you will always have friends on here who will be there for you.......Asgard

Hi, @Steve1981 Welcome to the forum, nice to have you here, and thank you for sharing your story, Good on you for turning your life around for the better. I can see you have been through a lot in life, it must of been tough. I too suffered from anxiety and depression for a long time, with small steps each day, talking to people who truly listen and care I was able to keep it under control. Here at the SANE forum, there are a lot of experienced members who understand, listen and care, you are in the right place. Take the time to explore the forum, there is a lot of information here. Be patient with yourself, and be kind to yourself, stay positive and believe in yourself. Daily, engage in activities that make you happy, it can be something as simple as sitting outside under the sun, going for a walk in nature, meditating, being present in the moment, try to calm your mind and your thoughts.
