One thing I’m working towards at the moment: i would say definitely cooking as I now need to get used to cooking my own meals on a regular basis (like weekly) instead of constantly relying on healthy takeaway meals - the main reason for this being is the ✨ costs ✨

One thing I’ve learnt about myself since being in the forums: that being in a community where many other people here are also going through difficulties and struggles in life, hence talking to other users here including the peer workers has made this place for me like I really belong here. Any other online communities that aren’t mental health related that I’ve been apart of and still am a part of (only one) have done the complete opposite (in terms of sense of belonging & how the people are).

@AuntGlow I’ve been dealing with some pretty traumatic situations most of the year so far, so honestly mainly trying to work through that and get through each day. one thing I’ve learned since joining here is that I’m well and truly not the only one struggling with being considered “too complex” and that I need community a lot more than I thought

@lonemushroom So far I’ve only been able to cook the basic stuff such as boiling rice in the saucepan, making sunny side up eggs etc. and recently I’ve started becoming a bit more open to using recipes to make stuff for myself following all the steps - but not gonna lie, the latter is what makes my kitchen messy when I do it. Plus, my kitchens verrryyyyy small which adds onto the mess lol but I guess that’s typical when you live in a room at a student accomodation 😅 I will be moving to another student accomodation next month tho!

I have ASD but I usually struggle at conversing in real life compared to online 😅🙃

@lonemushroom I'm so sorry to hear that your brain hasn't been nice to you this weekend... it really can feel so overwhelming, can't it? Exhausted is the perfect word to sum up how this process makes us feel... my brain does the same, so please know you aren't alone. I am glad you will be able to reconnect with your psychologist on Tuesday - it must feel really good to know you will be able to talk with someone familiar.

I think some comforting food sounds perfect right now. What will you order? 🤩

@Blackcloud that’s honestly heaps impressive!! I honestly relate so much about the kitchen getting messy too, I still struggle with eggs so much 🤣 is the kitchen at your new accomodation different?

I just ordered some loaded fries and a classic schnitty, I haven’t been having much takeaway in the last few months while trying to watch my budget but thought it’d be good to have a break from cooking tonight

got a whole chicken as well so I don’t have to worry too much about meals the next few nights

Thanks for the update. I'm sorry to hear about your physical health and that it's affecting your mental health. In a way, I'm glad you got it checked out. It helps to know that sometimes, it's our physical health that is impacting how we feel.

@PeppyPatti Good lord, I spoke to the wrong person at the supermarket last week! I always have heart for homeless and people doing it tough.

what do you all think about boundaries and bridges? I am concerned that the modern conversations about boundaries are encouraging judgmental, suspicious blocking. I am trying to improve my personal boundaries, but it just makes me sad, when there is less compassion in the world. Yep I know I need to be careful not to get used.
