@Shaz51 @Glisten @Oaktree @TAB
@PeppyPattigood you are walking whether its in the lounge room or in the streets… cough cough I mean the “nice” sort of walking… lol
hello all …. Especially new people reading along…
I am utterly exhausted. Just back from driving across town 2 1/2 hours, 3 hours rehearsal, and I hour food shopping. Mostly a very good day, made a few jokes and many people were noice. Has apple finally “arrived “. That is become a social person with respect.
Had to set a few boundaries. Spilled a few beans about a dominating dude to a lady I had never met, but it ended up being another music teacher who knew exactly what I meant. Jeez when ya been in the business many decades we don’t feel the need for showing off, we know how to blend into the wallpaper and shine only when the music wants and needs us too. She had to put up with him as a group leader, but she also had more experience…. Ah…we agreed we had to manage him….
I also said to him… I would give him space… but added… “don’t try and control me”… cos he was trying to tell me what to do with my music stand while I was trying to fit in with the least amount of trouble. He is addicted to being in charge and growing more control in a few groups. The great thing was that I connected with 3 other music professionals, consolidating friendships. Learning not to let the amateurs rile me up. It’s their problem, keep a firm boundary, but still enjoy my music making. So figuring it is about me learning broader interpersonal skills, and being assertive and differentiating with individual relevance, without collapsing and withdrawing into social isolation again.
The badly behaved psychiatrist spoke to me about how proud she was about restraining herself from interrupting the rehearsal all the time (she did it at least 5 times today… she loves challenging the conductor, or other attention seeking gambits). She didn’t have the self reflection or insight to see my grimace, as me being restrained and not bopping her on the nose. lol. Maybe my full feelings will come out eventually, it wasn’t the time. We are all performing 4 utterly stunning pieces tomorrow. the things we go through for love of our art.
