@GlistenI had a group meeting in the morning, a zoom meet in the mid afternoon and had a friend drop over for a couple of hours afterwards. I even found time to do a few things around the house. Sounds like we both got some stuff done today. What project is this wood and prep work for?

Two minimalist bench seats. Three pieces of wood for each using Miyadaiku technique for the leg join cut on a 15 degree angle.

Removing unnecessary weight from a wooden queen size bed frame. I dislike high bed-ends. It reduces the space in the bedroom and puts pressure on the frame to fold in.

I’ve always wanted to do a textile art bedhead. The same as these stools I made.

Those stools look amazing! They look really comfy to sit on with the cord tops. Probably a bit of a waste of such nice stools, but i'd love a pair to sit in front of my arcade machine I build. I have a couple, but they're hard to sit on and slightly wobbly.

I have no idea what a Miyadaiku technique is, but i'm assuming a form of Japanese joinery. I have seen some videos of some of those Japanese techniques and they look like art more than joinery. Is the one you used very complicated to do?

Miyadaiku it is Japanese joinery.

I have never done it before.

It’s just a 15 degree angle cut the length of one edge of the leg.

You just gently tappa, tappa, tap it in.

If the wood splits it’s over.

Nothing I can do to rescue it.

And yes those stools were comfy. I wish I had taken a photo of the underside.

You can’t see the cord joins.

A nice young lady purchased them for a lot of money.
